The Nature Of The Lived Experience Of Co Facilitation written by Marie Anne Martin and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003 with categories.

This phenomenological study describes the lived experience of co-facilitators, that is, facilitators who share the responsibilities of helping to make things easier for a group to solve a problem, create a product, work together more effectively or achieve an outcome. In-depth interviews were conducted with ten teams of co-facilitators and four facilitators who prefer not to co-facilitate. The findings from the research participants were analysed in a spiralling process of description, reduction and intuition. Participants' experiences were captured in four dimensions: co-facilitators are facilitators, co-facilitators collaborate, co-facilitation is an expanding relationship and co-facilitation is complex and serendipitous. Seven structures emerged to support co-facilitators as they approach co-facilitation experiences: expect the best, pull from trust, work into the future, think 'we' not 'me' , be prepared for points of discomfort, have a learning focus and be nourishing. The implications from this study suggest that co-facilitators need to be competent facilitators and collaborators, develop strong communication skills especially at points of discomfort, be aware and attend to layers of relationships between individuals in group sessions and in the wider exosystem, environment and world. and have and maintain an optimistic, future oriented outlook. In order to achieve this, co-facilitators and the groups that employ them need to dedicate time to developing the collaborative relationship as well as supporting the group process. The in-depth knowledge gained from this study will enable co-facilitators who arc new to co-facilitation, experienced co-facilitators, employers and organisations to select co-facilitators who are the right people, in the right place, at the right time.ð

This book reveals the secrets of the art of facilitation and shows how to use it to initiate group empowerment. Developing facilitation skills means first fully understanding the facilitator role: that of a guide helping a group or individual towards a conclusion, without steering the decision. To become an effective group facilitator you need to understand the principles of self-facilitation and the facilitation of individuals, as well as that of a group. The authors, all experienced facilitators, begin by fully explaining the skills required and the benefits to be derived. The Toolkit which follows includes practical activities, designs and processes, and includes a model facilitation training programme. This combination of personal experience and practical advice will have wide appeal for facilitators, trainers and group members.

Facilitators exist wherever learning happens. Anyone who works in a community organization, a corporation, a government, or a healthcare environment can end up leading a workshop, running a course, or otherwise facilitating others’ learning. Facilitators can also be consultants or post-secondary instructors who have been hired to lead one course or more. However, many people haven’t been trained in how to facilitate learning effectively. Design to Engage is a “how to” book that will help you become an effective designer and facilitator of learning events. You will: • learn about facilitation roles and responsibilities; • discover what good learning experiences look like; • plan for and design effective learning events using practical, straightforward design strategies; • raise your awareness about how to create inclusive, comfortable environments. Along with specific recommendations on developing the skills and strategies necessary to be an effective facilitator, you’ll find priceless advice on creating participatory activities to keep learners involved, assessing participants’ learning, gathering feedback about learning experiences, and how to grow your facilitation practice. The more engaging and interactive you make your learning events, the more people will actually learn from them. Practical, accessible, and jam-packed with tools to support facilitators to create impactful learning experiences, Design to Engage is a revelation and an inspiration.
