God created you for His purpose and with a special passion for soccer. He wants you to be passionate about using your life for Him. He designed you to know Christ as your Savior, and to accomplish great and mighty things that He has planned for you. Ephesians 2:10 indicates that, "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." If you are going to do this coaching thing, know that God designed you to move forward alongside Him and under His authority. Satan hates you, the Creator, and His creation. He hates you so much that he'll go out of his way to entrap you and then destroy you. As you bring together your passion for Christ and your passion for the game, God will enable you to significantly direct your players' so that they play soccer and play the game of life better spiritually. God loves it when you use your passion and abilities to please Him. All of this serving for a loving God can't happen unless we surrender 100 percent of our hearts to Him on a daily basis. Surrendering to God allows your heart to receive the power of God's love, grace, and mercy, which you in turn give away to your players as God gives to you. It's always been about Him and His purposes, which He planned for you. God created you for His purpose and pleasure, and He eventually will succeed through you where you normally fail on your own. He loves you that much. Are you ready for the challenge and ready to coach for Him by your side? Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all thing through Him who gives me strength." He's ready for you.

In One Goal: The Mindset of Winning Soccer Teams, internationally renowned performance psychologist and author of the best-selling Focused for Soccer, Bill Beswick, delivers an unrivaled guide to developing a winning team mindset. One Goal is arranged sequentially, providing invaluable insights on the various challenges facing coaches when pursuing a winning team mindset. You’ll find techniques, tools and suggestions to implement when addressing both common and unique challenges throughout the season. Have you ever wondered why so many great goal scoring opportunities are not converted into goals? In The Last 9 Seconds, John DeBenedictis provides soccer coaches with solutions to this problem tackling it from a psychological perspective. How can a soccer player who can kick, pass, shoot, or head a ball correctly, often miss a golden opportunity? This book stresses how to coach the soccer players on an in depth individual basis on how to prepare to score, which usually takes 9 seconds, or less. The Last 9 Seconds is a reference book for coaches to use when their team or players are having problems scoring goals. DeBenedictis writes with passion on the topic of scoring goals. Having played as a goalkeeper he knew exactly what it took to score on him. He has studied this aspect of the game in great detail and has also included new ideas on player development and how young players learn. He truly deciphers the art and science of scoring goals. "It is an entertaining read. It is an easy read. The book just works on so many levels. This book is highly recommended." - Jay Martin, NSCAA Soccer Journal, Sept/Oct 2013

Exploring the role of coaches and parents, this book emphasizes the importance of team identity and a team mindset and presents the necessary foot skills and tactics to help young soccer players both perform better and have more fun. As youth soccer becomes increasingly popular, coaches often gloss over individual improvement in order to win, relying on rigid systems and a few elite players to carry a team. This impairs player development and kills the joy of the game—so how can adults make competitive soccer better for kids? Addressing that very problem, this book outlines basic patterns of play that young players can use to advance the ball and illustrates innovative techniques that will help improve any team. Moreover, this book advocates a soccer culture free from the fear of failure; instead, players, coaches, and parents are encouraged to foster confidence, passion, creativity, and the desire to try and keep trying.
