Properly done, it can be a valuable contribution not only to the students own learning development but also to the field of architecture as a whole. This book provides a complete guide to what to do, how to do it, when to do it, and the major pitfalls involved. This is a comprehensive guide to all that an architecture student might need to know about undertaking the dissertation, including new material on CD-ROM and online sources, web based research techniques, digital images, alternative imaging strategies, key architecture links, referencing and new dissertation extracts. It clearly navigates the student through the whole process of writing, preparing and submitting a dissertation, as well as suggesting what to do after the dissertation has been completed. Subjects covered include how to write a proposal, which research methodologies and techniques to adopt, which libraries and archives to utilize (including special architectural resources on the net), as well as how to structure, reference and illustrate the final submission. The authors also take architecture students into new terrain, suggesting alternative methods of undertaking dissertations, whether as video, prose writing, multimedia or other forms of expression. Furthermore, this guide includes new examples of exemplary dissertations of all kinds, as completed by students in Europe and North America so that the reader can clearly see the kinds of work which they themselves might choose to pursue. Helmut Krone The Book written by Clive Challis and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-01-01 with Advertising categories.

Helmut Krone led the Creative Revolution which changed advertising. Forty years after he'd created the Volkswagen Beetle campaign it was voted `the most famous campaign ever'. His work is in the Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian. He has been inducted into Art Directors' Halls of Fame from New York to Berlin. Before Helmut Krone advertising art direction was either `old' commercialised art or `new' graphic design. And advertising was thought of as salesmanship. His thinking led into account planning, affected marketing and changed the design of ads. Krone gave us ads which command attention, are witty, understated and demand complicity to decode. He questioned all of advertising's formal devices: logotypes, headlines, body-copy and studio photography. He explored the tensions between the meanings of words and the meaning of images - still the way modern advertising gets us to realise new thoughts. The book shows nearly all of Krone's print work: graphic designs which modernised advertising and art direction - and changed graphic design.

Margery Spring Rice Pioneer Of Women S Health In The Early Twentieth Century written by Lucy Pollard and has been published by Open Book Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-04-24 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

This book vividly presents the story of Margery Spring Rice, an instrumental figure in the movements of women’s health and family planning in the first half of the twentieth century. Margery Spring Rice, née Garrett, was born into a family of formidable female trailblazers – niece of physician and suffragist Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, and of Millicent Fawcett, a leading suffragist and campaigner for equal rights for women. Margery Spring Rice continued this legacy with her co-founding of the North Kensington birth control clinic in 1924, three years after Marie Stopes founded the first clinic in Britain. Engaging and accessible, this biography weaves together Spring Rice’s personal and professional lives, adopting a chronological approach which highlights how the one impacted the other. Her life unfolds against the turbulent backdrop of the early twentieth century – a period which sees the entry of women into higher education, and the upheaval and societal upshots of two world wars. Within this context, Spring Rice emerges as a dynamic figure who dedicated her life to social causes, and whose actions time and again bear out her habitual belief that, contrary to the Shakespearian dictum, ‘valour is the better part of discretion’. This is the first biography of Margery Spring Rice, drawing extensively on letters, diaries and other archival material, and equipping the text with family trees and photographs. It will be of great interest to a range of social historians, especially those researching the birth control movement; female friendships, female philanthropists, and feminist activism in the twentieth century; and the history of medicine and public health.

An edited collection of papers published by YoungMinds and funded by Health Education England. With 1 in 3 adult mental health conditions related directly to adverse childhood experiences, it is vital that we understand the impact that adversity and trauma can have on the mental health and wellbeing of young people, and how we can strengthen resilience and support recovery. Addressing Adversity presents evidence, insight, direction and case studies for commissioners, providers and practitioners in order to stimulate further growth in adversity and trauma-informed care, and spark innovation and good practice across England. Section 1: Understanding adversity, trauma and resilience includes evidence and analysis of the impact that adverse childhood experiences and trauma have on children and young people’s mental health and wider outcomes across the lifecourse. Section 2: Addressing childhood adversity and trauma includes insights from the NHS in England, organisations and clinicians working with children and young people who have experienced forms of adversity and trauma. Section 3: Emerging good practice includes insight, case studies and working examples of adversity and trauma-informed service models being developed across England. The collection ends with an agenda for change, calling on all Directors of Public Health, commissioners and providers to make adversity and trauma-informed care a priority in their locality.
