This study answers the question: Why join a church? By seeing the scriptural reasoning for becoming a church member, participants will also learn what it looks like to be a healthy member and how to serve well within their local congregation. A series of ten 6–7 week studies covering the nine distinctives of a healthy church as originally laid out in Nine Marks of a Healthy Church by Mark Dever. This series explores the biblical foundations of key aspects of the church, helping Christians to live out those realities as members of a local body. Conveniently packaged and accessibly written, the format of this series is guided, inductive discussion of Scripture passages and is ideal for use in Sunday school, church-wide studies, or small group contexts.

Life Is Never Mainly About Love and Marriage. So Learn to Live and Date for More. Many of you grew up assuming that marriage would meet all of your needs and unlock God's purposes for you. But God has far more planned for you than your future marriage. Not Yet Married is not about waiting quietly in the corner of the world for God to bring you "the one," but about inspiring you to live and date for more now. If you follow Jesus, the search for a spouse is no longer a pursuit of the perfect person, but a pursuit of more of God. He will likely write a love story for you different than the one you would write for yourself, but that's because he loves you and knows how to write a better story. This book was written to help you find real hope, happiness, and purpose in your not-yet-married life.

Author's Preface "The reason for writing this book was to share personal information, experiences and solutions from those who are now working through committed relationships, along with research and conversations with others who also have been in committed relationships. When making the decision to enter into a commitment with another person, it should never be taken lightly or made hastily. It is too serious of an undertaking to be based solely on emotions. Most of us would not marry another person without giving it serious consideration; why would you think of making a similar type of commitment without giving it the same amount of common sense reflection?" To me, the most important way to start the conversation about the dos and don'ts of a committed relationship is to say that you don't have to believe everything you read in this book, but you might learn something if you do. Take this advice as just relationship information. Everyone's relationship is different and what matters to one person may not be important to another. Still, there are some general dos and don'ts outlined in chapters of this book that may prove very valuable when considering whether or not to enter a committed relationship. There's always an exception to the rule. For example, things you shouldn't tell your partner: "My mother thinks you're getting fat." Or "Actually, I think Scarlett Johansson/Chris Hemsworth/Tyra Banks/Chris Evans/ Diego Boneta/Kate Upton/Denzel Washington/Sofia Vergara is way, way hotter than you." You should use common sense concerning things that harm the relationship. Both parties should discuss past relationships. It may create doubt in their relationship during the beginning, until they get to know each other, but I feel it is best to start with a clean slate. Tolerance, honesty, communication, sex, faith, commitment, family, temptation, politics, finances and friends all influence how long and strong a committed relationship will be. I know from personal experience that each of them influenced how my committed relationships transpired. I'm sad to say that 75% of those relationships ended as a result of me deciding to let don'ts influence my decisions and clearly not just the fault of the wonderful ladies that chose to make commitments with me - just saying. There are general dos and don'ts that you can use as guidance in this book, no matter what stage your relationship is in. I only wish I had read a book like this earlier in life. I am sure I would have made wiser decisions in some of my past relationships, but as a result of writing this book, I will make better decisions in future relationships.

Committing With Your Soul written by Leo Collymore and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-09 with Religion categories.

Men are raised in a culture where individualism is exalted, friendships with other men tend to be superfi cial, and intimate friendship between men is often questioned. Even Christian men have a tendency to avoid close relationships with one another, perhaps out of fear that the relationship might be misinterpreted. Committing with Your Soul provides spiritual builders for meaningful relationships between men. God never intended for men to go the Christian journey alone. Christian men need other Christian men who will help keep them accountable as they strive together to live lives that are pleasing to God. Biblical friendship requires sincere commitment to God and to one another. Remember the story of Jonathan and David? Jonathan was next in line to sit on the throne of his father, King Saul; however, God had appointed David king of Israel. Jonathan's love for God came before his personal ambition. His love for God set the framework for loving David and developing a healthy intimate friendship with him. In this book, Leo Collymore draws from his personal experience to give you a biblical insight into what it takes to be a committed friend.

In this second volume, Dr. Cook provides a series of articles that are part of his morning meditations on Scripture. Meditation, in the biblical sense, is an intentional filling of the mind with divine viewpoint; specifically, God’s Word. The purpose is to saturate our thinking with Scripture so that it will permeate all aspects of our reasoning and guide us into God’s will. These articles touch on subjects such as soteriology, grace, worship, righteous living, and character studies of people such as Saul and David. The overall intent of the book is to inform and inspire believers to live righteously before God.
