Il volume ha il fine strategico di contribuire a rilanciare, attualizzandola, la cultura del progetto di architettura e il suo ruolo nei processi di avanzamento sociale. Nella prima parte del testo, si restituisce un confronto tra quanti agiscono all'interno o attorno al DASTEC (Dipartimento di Arte, Scienza e Tecnica del Costruire), con riflessioni sul “mestiere dell'architetto”, tenendo conto delle nuove complessità interne ed esterne alla sfera del progetto, offrendo la propria interpretazione delle declaratorie scientifiche più recenti, delle sfide tematiche più attuali e significative, delle nuove tendenze e delle opportunità deducibili dalla recente legislazione universitaria in materia di formazione, oltre che di ricerca di base e di servizio per il territorio. La seconda parte del testo raccoglie, invece, gli eventi culturali promossi dal DASTEC dal 2005 al 2011, con un obiettivo in parte filologico, volendo ribadire, attraverso la testimonianza di esperienze concrete e realizzate con ampia partecipazione interna ed esterna, i due principi generali che in questi anni hanno orientato il cammino del Dipartimento: pensare al progetto come luogo centrale dell'architettura, esercitarlo, nella pratica e nella formazione, con approcci e metodi scientifici.

Questo testo contiene i risultati di una ricerca universitaria condotta sull'ambiente costiero, da tempo soggetto a forti pressioni antropiche, a vari fenomeni di urbanizzazione, cementificazione e costruzione di infrastrutture di vario genere. Ruota intorno ai due termini principali di paesaggio e turismo e all'aggettivo costiero che li accomuna. Si riferisce, in particolare, a quei processi di sviluppo turistico che sono stati tra i motori principali e le cause primarie delle trasformazioni di tante aree litoranee; evidenzia problemi e vicende di particolare complessità e criticità che si sono succeduti in prevalenza negli ultimi cinquant'anni e che hanno riguardato e riguardano l'alterazione delle fragilità naturali e delle identità culturali del paesaggio costiero; analizza le potenzialità di un approccio paesistico integrato per affrontare, congiuntamente, le interazioni esistenti tra tutela attiva delle risorse e politiche di utilizzo turistico sostenibile. Alla ricerca hanno partecipato studiosi e ricercatori universitari interessati da tempo ai temi ed ai problemi che coinvolgono le tematiche paesaggistiche e all'applicazione di principi ed obiettivi delle recenti carte e normative, nazionali ed internazionali, che considerano il paesaggio un organismo vivente in continua trasformazione, una risorsa comune che richiede politiche integrate ed azioni progettuali continue e sostenibili.

This book presents a comprehensive debate and analysis of existing Territorial Impact Assessment (TIA) methodologies, designed under the auspices of the ESPON programme since the mid-2000s. This is intended to serve as a TIA handbook for the reader, to better understand the main differences, advantages and shortcomings of each presented TIA methodology. It also serves as a manual for professors and students in the field of policy evaluation, and territorial analysis, as it presents concrete examples of the implementation of each TIA methodology, their formulas and intrinsic evaluation elements. The purpose of policy evaluation methodologies is to check the main effects of private and public investments, in order to report back to policymakers and citizens on their efficiency and effectiveness.
