APRESENTAÇÃO A obra "Comunicação, história & economia: contemporaneidades" promove reflexões interdisciplinares que percorrem os caminhos das Ciências Sociais Aplicadas e Humanidades. Problematizam-se múltiplas questões da sociedade contemporânea por meio de pesquisas originais e abrangentes com relevantes discussões teóricas. Pedro Antônio Ursine Krettli, no primeiro capítulo do livro, analisa os recursos e discursos econômicos problematizando o caráter científico das narrativas elaboradas sobre o conceito de modernidade utilizado nas Ciências Sociais. No segundo capítulo, Isaura Mourão e Jaqueline Morelo investigam a construção de parcerias através do diálogo social. A comunicação entre diferentes atores sociais é apontada por meio do estudo das relações estabelecidas entre Veracel Celulose e comunidades autóctones do sul da Bahia, a partir da instalação da indústria na região, em 2005. No terceiro capitulo Jane Noronha Carvalhais e Elisa maria Pinto da rocha analisam a Lei Robin Hood em Minas Gerais através da construção de uma tipologia dos municípios mineiros. Procurou-se verificar se a Lei estaria promovendo uma distribuição de recursos compatível com a realidade socioeconômica de cada localidade. Sônia Caldas Pessoa em "Notas sobre o rádio na era digital" apresenta os desafios das tecnologias digitais ao radiojornalismo. A autora indica as mudanças necessárias para atender às novas necessidades do meio e preparar profissionais que nele vão atura. No quinto capítulo, Adriane Vidal Costa e os alunos pesquisadores (Ana Paula Aparecida Araújo, Daiene Solange Dalamora e Elaine Soares de Faria) analisam o ciberespaço e guerrilha informacional a partir do movimento indígena de Chiapas, o trabalho apresenta a estratégia de luta engendrada pelo Exército Zapatista de Libertação Nacional (EZLN), que o transformou em um movimento bastante original dentro do contextp das lutas populares na América latina. Os zapatistas foram pioneiros no uso da internet como instrumento para ação política na década de 1990, criando uma rede de comunicação que chamou atenção do mundo para a questão indígena no sul do México. Juniele Rabêlo de Almeida, no sexto capítulo, investiga aspectos de uma possível cultura política ambientalista a partir do estudo de ações reivindicativas das primeiras frentes de mobilização das mesorregiões mineiras (entre os anos de 1967 a 2002). Observa-se uma inovação substantiva no repertório de ações coletivas a partir das narrativas canônicas sobre natureza. A autora aponta o diálogo entre os valores e normas das associações ambientalistas e as novas propostas encampadas durante a Rio-92 e, posteriormente, pela Agenda 21 Brasileira". Adriano Miglio porto, no sétimo capítulo, discute "Evolucionismo e Sistema tributário" a partir de reflexões teóricas (Steinmo, Lewis) e questionamentos referentes ao papel do Estado e o volume de sua carga tributária global, indicando a questão delicada da repartição social da carga dos tributos. No oitavo capítulo, Betânia Guimarães Cordeiro e Sônia Aparecida Martins Lazzarini observam a educação contemporânea por meio da análise da gestão de operações em servições de uma instituição de ensino superior. O texto apresenta parte dos resultados de uma pesquisa descritiva quantitativa aplicada junto a professores e a alunos graduandos de uma instituição de ensino superior de Belo Horizonte. O nono capítulo, redigido por André luis Santos Vieira, apresenta o processo de formulação e implementação da Política Externa Independente no Brasil. O autor analisa o ISEB e a ideologia do nacional-desenvolvimentismo na quebra do insulamento burocrático do Itamaraty durante os anos de 1961 e 1964. No caminho da história política, o último capítulo apresenta uma nota prévia da pesquisa "Comunicação pública e construção do sujeito coletivo no Fórum Metropolitano de Belo Horizonte", realizada pelas professoras Jaqueline Morelo, Cláudia Chaves Fonseca, Juniele Rabêlo de Almeida e Marialice Emboava. A trabalho, vinculado ao XII Programa de Iniciação Cinetífica do Centro Universitário Newton Paiva, conta com a participação dos alunos pesquisadores Bruno Menezes, Daisy Batista Silva, Fernanda Bartolomeu, Fernanda Ribeiro, Lídia Carolina Silva e Lorrayne Pelligrinelli. Os textos apresentados lançam luz sobre aspectos importantes das configurações comunicacionais, históricas e econômicas que propiciam a compreensão de possíveis ranços e avanços da sociedade contemporânea.
