This book presents, in a unitary frame and from a new perspective, the main concepts and results of one of the most fascinating branches of modern mathematics, namely differential equations, and offers the reader another point of view concerning a possible way to approach the problems of existence, uniqueness, approximation, and continuation of the solutions to a Cauchy problem. In addition, it contains simple introductions to some topics which are not usually included in classical textbooks: the exponential formula, conservation laws, generalized solutions, Caratheodory solutions, differential inclusions, variational inequalities, viability, invariance, gradient systems. In this new edition we have corrected several small errors and added the following new topics: Volterra Integral Equations and Elements of Calculus of Variations. Some problems and exercises, referring to these two new topics are also included. The bibliography has been updated and expanded.

The stream of our consciousness contains an almost unceasing parade of sensation-like experiences, even in the absence of any external stimulation to produce them. We experience picture-like things, sound-like things, and more; our experiences can resemble any of our sense modalities. These experiences are what we refer to by the phrase "mental imagery." The images need not be vivid. People who doubt that they experience visual imagery are often persuaded by a simple exercise: count the windows of the house in which you live. Nearly everyone performs this task by walking around the house in imagination while counting windows, or by walking through the house counting them from the inside. The imaginary windows seem to be set in visual space. There is a temptation to point at them with an index finger while one counts, even though the images may never become vivid enough to seem like an actual visual experience. But if they seem set in visual space, if they can be pointed at, they clearly constitute a sensory-like experience in some meaningful way.

Finite Ordered Sets written by Nathalie Caspard and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-01-26 with Mathematics categories.

Ordered sets are ubiquitous in mathematics and have significant applications in computer science, statistics, biology and the social sciences. As the first book to deal exclusively with finite ordered sets, this book will be welcomed by graduate students and researchers in all of these areas. Beginning with definitions of key concepts and fundamental results (Dilworth's and Sperner's theorem, interval and semiorders, Galois connection, duality with distributive lattices, coding and dimension theory), the authors then present applications of these structures in fields such as preference modelling and aggregation, operational research and management, cluster and concept analysis, and data mining. Exercises are included at the end of each chapter with helpful hints provided for some of the most difficult examples. The authors also point to further topics of ongoing research.

With the advent of the Web along with the unprecedented amount of information available in electronic format, conceptual data analysis is more useful and practical than ever, because this technology addresses important limitations of the systems that currently support users in their quest for information. Concept Data Analysis: Theory & Applications is the first book that provides a comprehensive treatment of the full range of algorithms available for conceptual data analysis, spanning creation, maintenance, display and manipulation of concept lattices. The accompanying website allows you to gain a greater understanding of the principles covered in the book through actively working on the topics discussed. The three main areas explored are interactive mining of documents or collections of documents (including Web documents), automatic text ranking, and rule mining from structured data. The potentials of conceptual data analysis in the application areas being considered are further illustrated by two detailed case studies. Concept Data Analysis: Theory & Applications is essential for researchers active in information processing and management and industry practitioners who are interested in creating a commercial product for conceptual data analysis or developing content management applications.

Data Science Concepts And Techniques With Applications written by Usman Qamar and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-04-02 with Computers categories.

This textbook comprehensively covers both fundamental and advanced topics related to data science. Data science is an umbrella term that encompasses data analytics, data mining, machine learning, and several other related disciplines. The chapters of this book are organized into three parts: The first part (chapters 1 to 3) is a general introduction to data science. Starting from the basic concepts, the book will highlight the types of data, its use, its importance and issues that are normally faced in data analytics, followed by presentation of a wide range of applications and widely used techniques in data science. The second part, which has been updated and considerably extended compared to the first edition, is devoted to various techniques and tools applied in data science. Its chapters 4 to 10 detail data pre-processing, classification, clustering, text mining, deep learning, frequent pattern mining, and regression analysis. Eventually, the third part (chapters 11 and 12) present a brief introduction to Python and R, the two main data science programming languages, and shows in a completely new chapter practical data science in the WEKA (Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis), an open-source tool for performing different machine learning and data mining tasks. An appendix explaining the basic mathematical concepts of data science completes the book. This textbook is suitable for advanced undergraduate and graduate students as well as for industrial practitioners who carry out research in data science. They both will not only benefit from the comprehensive presentation of important topics, but also from the many application examples and the comprehensive list of further readings, which point to additional publications providing more in-depth research results or provide sources for a more detailed description of related topics. "This book delivers a systematic, carefully thoughtful material on Data Science." from the Foreword by Witold Pedrycz, U Alberta, Canada.

Analysis written by Jean-Paul Penot and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-12-18 with Mathematics categories.

This textbook covers the main results and methods of real analysis in a single volume. Taking a progressive approach to equations and transformations, this book starts with the very foundations of real analysis (set theory, order, convergence, and measure theory) before presenting powerful results that can be applied to concrete problems. In addition to classical results of functional analysis, differential calculus and integration, Analysis discusses topics such as convex analysis, dissipative operators and semigroups which are often absent from classical treatises. Acknowledging that analysis has significantly contributed to the understanding and development of the present world, the book further elaborates on techniques which pervade modern civilization, including wavelets in information theory, the Radon transform in medical imaging and partial differential equations in various mechanical and physical phenomena. Advanced undergraduate and graduate students, engineers as well as practitioners wishing to familiarise themselves with concepts and applications of analysis will find this book useful. With its content split into several topics of interest, the book’s style and layout make it suitable for use in several courses, while its self-contained character makes it appropriate for self-study.

Concepts In Action written by Lucas Bechberger and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021 with Artificial intelligence categories.

This open access book is a timely contribution in presenting recent issues, approaches, and results that are not only central to the highly interdisciplinary field of concept research but also particularly important to newly emergent paradigms and challenges. The contributors present a unique, holistic picture for the understanding and use of concepts from a wide range of fields including cognitive science, linguistics, philosophy, psychology, artificial intelligence, and computer science. The chapters focus on three distinct points of view that lie at the core of concept research: representation, learning, and application. The contributions present a combination of theoretical, experimental, computational, and applied methods that appeal to students and researchers working in these fields.
