Conferencia sobre la lluvia aborda una situación teatral por excelencia: hablar en público. Un conferencista extravía sus papeles y el acero lo lleva a decir cosas impensadas. El tema de la charla es la relación entre la lluvia y la poesía amorosa. En el vértigo de la improvisación, el protagonista habla de sí mismo pero no su abandona propósito original: un su mente acuden poetas que han cambiado el clima con sus versos. De manera fascinante se mezclan dos formas del discurso: la conferencia y la confesión. Si un libro depende del lector, una conferencia depende del público. La voz tiene sentido si alguien la oye. Misteriosamente, también define a quien la oye. Escuchar es ser interpretado. Cet antécédent et d’autres m’ont incité à combiner les hésitations mentales et les prédicats amoureux du protagoniste avec une dissertation sur un sujet cardinal de la littérature : la relation entre la pluie et la poésie. Siempre me ha intrigado la posibilidad de perder el hilo del discurso y convertir la exposición de ideas en una confesión. ¿Hasta dónde controlamos lo que decimos? Al modo de un actor, el conferencista puede olvidar sus parlamentos o sucumbir a la tentación de revelar algo incómodo o devastador. Conferencia sobre la lluvia se inscribe en la larga estirpe literaria de la digresión, es decir, en el distraído arte de decir una cosa para hablar de otra. Este antecedente con otros me incitaron a combinar las vacilaciones mentales y los predicamentos amorosos del protagonista con una disertación sobre un asunto cardinal de la literatura: el vínculo entre la lluvia y la poesía Juan Villoro (Mexico, 1956) fut attaché culturel à l’ambassade du Mexique à Berlin de 1981 à 1984. Collaborant à de nombreux journaux et revues (La Jornada de 1995 à 1998), il enseigne également à l’université. Il a construit une œuvre qui, dans ses romans, recueils de nouvelles, livres de chroniques et pièces de théâtre, plonge le lecteur dans la société mexicaine et le monde occidental contemporains.
