El presente libro aborda el análisis de la comunicación sobre la justicia y la ley penal en la red social X. Lo hace centrándose en una semana en la que el Derecho penal fue trending topic, aunque muchas de las reflexiones son aplicables a otros temas y otras tendencias relacionadas con el crimen y la respuesta jurídica a él. El objetivo es tanto aproximarse al análisis de cómo se está produciendo el debate público en el nuevo ecosistema mediático de las redes sociales, como contrastar lo que en ese foro se decía acerca de las leyes penales y su aplicación, con la visión técnica de los problemas jurídico-penales y político-criminales que estas cuestiones plantean. La Ley Orgánica 10/2022, de garantía integral de la libertad sexual y su aplicación por los tribunales, la reforma de los delitos de sedición y malversación, la independencia judicial al hilo de la renovación del Consejo General del Poder Judicial, entre otras cuestiones, fueron debatidas y discutidas en una red social que podría estar incidiendo en la visión de la ciudadanía sobre la ley penal y configurando la opinión pública sobre el Derecho penal. Los autores del libro analizan todas y cada una de estas tendencias a partir de la discusión en Twitter, entrando en la reflexión jurídica y político-criminal sobre cada uno de los temas de fondo. También se reflexiona, desde la criminología y la sociología, sobre el impacto que una tuiterización del discurso público sobre la ley penal podría conllevar a nivel político-criminal.

La digitalización de la sociedad y el hecho de que el contacto entre usuario y empresario se produzca a través de la interfaz de un dispositivo ha llevado a que el diseño de las páginas web y aplicaciones informáticas cobre una gran relevancia, también desde el punto de vista jurídico. Siguiendo la idea del legal design, el éxito de la comunicación con el usuario a través de la interfaz no solo depende del contenido de la información sino también del modo en que se proporciona dicha información o se estructura un proceso. Además, la especial vulnerabilidad del usuario en internet se ha visto intensificada por el big data y la inteligencia artificial, lo que hace que el uso de las técnicas de diseño en línea esté en el punto de mira de las autoridades reguladoras de todo el mundo. Partiendo de este escenario, la presente obra pretende ofrecer una aproximación al fenómeno de las interfaces de usuario y una visión actual, clara y estructurada de aquellos aspectos que pueden ser relevantes jurídicamente, tomando en consideración tanto la normativa y jurisprudencia europeas como las de ámbito nacional. Por un lado, se sistematizan aquellas manifestaciones ya existentes en nuestro ordenamiento que demuestran una preocupación por el diseño en el ámbito digital así como algunas iniciativas para un mejor diseño del proceso de contratación en línea. The Rebel is the memoir of a revolutionary woman, Leonor Villegas de Magnon (1876-1955), who was a fiery critic of dictator Porfirio Diaz and a conspirator and participant in the Mexican Revolution. Villegas de Magnon rebelled against the ideals of her aristocratic class and against the traditional role of women in her society. In 1910 Villegas moved from Mexico to Laredo, Texas, where she continued supporting the revolution as a member of the Junta Revolucionaria (Revolutionary Council) and as a fiery editorialist in Laredo newspapers. In 1913, she founded La Cruz Blanca (The White Cross) to serve as a corps of nurses for the revolutionary forces active from the border region to Mexico City. Many women like Villegas de Magnon from both sides of the border risked their lives and left their families to support the revolution. Years later, however, when their participation had still been unacknowledged and was running the risk of being forgotten, Villegas de Magnon decided to write her personal account of this history. The Rebel covers the period from 1876 through 1920, documenting the heroic actions of the women. Written in the third person with a romantic fervor, the narrative interweaves autobiography with the story of La Cruz Blanca. Until now Villegas de Magnon's written contributions have remained virtually unrecognized - peripheral to both Mexico and the United States, fragmented by a border. Not only does her work attest to the vitality, strength and involvement of women in sociopolitical concerns, but it also stands as one of the very few written documents that consciously challenges stereotyped misconceptions of Mexican Americans held by both Mexicans and Anglo-Americans.

The world's demand for food is expected to double within the next 50 years, while the natural resources that sustain agriculture will become increasingly scarce, degraded, and vulnerable to the effects of climate change. In many poor countries, agriculture accounts for at least 40 percent of GDP and 80 percent of employment. At the same time, about 70 percent of the world's poor live in rural areas and most depend on agriculture for their livelihoods. 'World Development Report 2008' seeks to assess where, when, and how agriculture can be an effective instrument for economic development, especially development that favors the poor. We live in a world which no longer questions itself, which lives from one day to another managing successive crises and struggling to brace itself for new ones, without knowing where it is going and without trying to plan the itinerary. What is at stake in this inquiry is the possibility of re-building the"'private/public" space, where private troubles and public issues meet and where citizens engage in dialogue in order to govern themselves. Individual liberty can only be a product of collective work, it can only be collectively secured and guaranteed. And yet today we are moving towards a privatization of the means to secure individual liberty. If seen as a therapy for the present ills, this is bound to produce effects of a most sinister kind. The act of translating private troubles into public issues is in danger of falling into disuse and being forgotten. The argument of this book is that making the translation possible again is an urgent and vital imperative for the renewal of politics today.
