Weak and frail, and tormented by jealousy and inadequacy compared to his twin brother Caramon, the gifted boy begins to forge his wizarding skills. But shadows are darkening over Raistlin even as the same shadows lengthen over all of Ansalon. As Raistlin’s wizarding apprenticeship draws nearer to the end, he must first take the Dread Test in the Tower of High Sorcery. It will change his life forever. Kentucky and Kentuckians are full of stories, which may be why so many present-day writers have Kentucky roots. Whether they left and returned, like Wendell Berry and Bobbie Ann Mason, or adopted Kentucky as home, like James Still and Jim Wayne Miller, or grew up and left for good, like Michael Dorris and Barbara Kingsolver, they have one connection: Kentucky has influenced their writing and their lives. L. Elisabeth Beattie explores this influence in twenty intimate interviews. Conversations with Kentucky Writers was more than three years in the making, as Beattie traveled across the state and beyond to capture oral histories on tape. Her exhaustive knowledge of these authors helped her draw out personal revelations about their work, their lives, and the nature of writing. When Still concludes his interview with "I believe I've told you more than anybody," he could be speaking for any of Beattie's subjects. Aspiring writers will learn that Mason submitted twenty stories to the New Yorker before one was accepted, and that Still wrote articles for Sunday school magazines. There's plenty of advice: Dorris tells budding authors to get real jobs, keep journals, and read everything, even cereal boxes, and Marsha Norman reminds playwrights that "it is not the business of the theater to provide writers with a living." Kingsolver advises, "Read good stuff and write bad stuff until eventually what you're writing begins to approximate what you're reading." Beattie's collection includes striking self-portraits of such writers as Sue Grafton, Leon Driskell, James Baker Hall, Fenton Johnson, George Ella Lyon, Taylor McCafferty, Ed McClanahan, Sena Naslund, Chris Offutt, Lee Pennington, and Betty Layman Receveur. What most distinguishes these moving conversations from other author interviews is their focus on creativity, on the teaching of writing, and on the authors' strong sense of place. As Wade Hall writes in his foreword, all twenty writers recognize that their works have been significantly influenced by their "Kentucky experience." This collection offers insights into Kentucky's rich and flowering literary heritage.

How About Me written by S. J. Mendoza and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-09 with Juvenile Fiction categories.

I wrote this story based on people that I have met in my life. They had shared their emotions and encounters of their life with me. In our life, we hope and wish to make the bad memories go away. Instead, they become our cancer in our heart, never to leave our side. Some may say they are stronger then others, when it comes to dealing with bad problems. That may be true but, don’t we all wish that we can make it all go away and never to return in our thoughts. I myself truly believe there are strong individuals out there that can deal with this cancer. Nevertheless, all it takes is one little something to bring that bad memory back into our thoughts repeatedly. I wish there was a pill to take so that one can forget the bad event that had happened in ones life. Never to return into our thoughts, but that would mean we just found a cure for memory cancer. Even though some hide their true self by hiding their addiction. May it be by pills, drinking, or smoking what ever? Not willing to face reality. One can only look in the mirror and truly tell them self, “What am I doing to myself”? Only one can only change if they truly believe they have the strength of the heart to do so. I believe we all have a little bit of Lilly inside of us. This is Lilly’s story.

At 84, John T. Finnegan has written his first novel, and what a story! This beautiful and intensely personal narrative will tug at your heartstrings. Finnegan's book contains passages about his childhood, World War II, his marriage, and his experiences and battles with the Railroad Union. In his chapter titled Angel, he regales good times and bad in a local bar, baring his soul about his life and what he's learned along the way. From 1935 to the present, Finnegan touches on his life's ups and downs with grace and humor. Commenting on sensitive subjects such as the civil rights movement, rocky relationships, Catholicism, Union antics and rules, the sadness and joy of raising children, and alcoholism, Finnegan pulls no punches. With brutal honesty and the wisdom that comes from living through harsh times, Everyman's Story is not for the faint of heart. It is a gripping, candid and a wonderfully written slice-of-life account that baby boomers and the Greatest Generation will recognize and deeply appreciate. John T. Finnegan has written a three-act musical with eight original songs and four original dance numbers; two children's stories; one short story; and a how-to tennis book titled My Serve. He lives with his wife, Celeste, in Southern California. Publisher's website: http: //www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/EverymansStory.htm
