The autobiographical films of German women form a unique body of work. Merging documentary and fiction footage, the filmmakers present a self (de)formed, but not constructed, by social forces. By historicizing, rather than psychologizing, their experience, these filmmakers call prevailing models of subject construction into question. Conversations with Experience examines the social and theoretical context of the films' production and proposes feminist hermeneutics as a theory of textual analysis. Drawing on the insights of Christa Wolf, Mary Daly, and Adrienne Rich, feminist hermeneutics recalls ontology as the basis for a conversational approach to critical engagement.

The main thesis of this book is that words have power. They have power to nourish – to add substantially to the way people feel about themselves. They also have power to hurt – to diminish another’s feelings about self. The words we use to each other can bring us closer together or drive us further apart. The materials in the book provide readers with opportunities to examine and reflect on the relationship between human interactions and the development of positive human relationships, specifically how conversations work to enable positive relationships or diminish them. These include being able to “tune in” to what the other person is saying, freeing oneself from the need to judge, being respectful, and having a clear and non-defensive idea of what is coming out of one’s mouth. The materials in the book also provide a self-instructional program to develop one’s skills in using human interactions that build more positive relationships.

You Are Your Best Thing written by Tarana Burke and has been published by Random House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-27 with Social Science categories.

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Tarana Burke and Dr. Brené Brown bring together a dynamic group of Black writers, organizers, artists, academics, and cultural figures to discuss the topics the two have dedicated their lives to understanding and teaching: vulnerability and shame resilience. Contributions by Kiese Laymon, Imani Perry, Laverne Cox, Jason Reynolds, Austin Channing Brown, and more NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY MARIE CLAIRE AND BOOKRIOT It started as a text between two friends. Tarana Burke, founder of the ‘me too.’ Movement, texted researcher and writer Brené Brown to see if she was free to jump on a call. Brené assumed that Tarana wanted to talk about wallpaper. They had been trading home decorating inspiration boards in their last text conversation so Brené started scrolling to find her latest Pinterest pictures when the phone rang. But it was immediately clear to Brené that the conversation wasn’t going to be about wallpaper. Tarana’s hello was serious and she hesitated for a bit before saying, “Brené, you know your work affected me so deeply, but as a Black woman, I’ve sometimes had to feel like I have to contort myself to fit into some of your words. The core of it rings so true for me, but the application has been harder.” Brené replied, “I’m so glad we’re talking about this. It makes sense to me. Especially in terms of vulnerability. How do you take the armor off in a country where you’re not physically or emotionally safe?” Long pause. “That’s why I’m calling,” said Tarana. “What do you think about working together on a book about the Black experience with vulnerability and shame resilience?” There was no hesitation. Burke and Brown are the perfect pair to usher in this stark, potent collection of essays on Black shame and healing. Along with the anthology contributors, they create a space to recognize and process the trauma of white supremacy, a space to be vulnerable and affirm the fullness of Black love and Black life.

The Astounding Nature of Experience chronicles three years of conversations with radical philosopher Peter Brown regarding the dynamism of experience, and how to be with that in artful ways. With deep understanding of many of the world's contemplative and mystery traditions, Peter challenges the ways we take things for granted, which open fresh ways of perceiving already in place. His teachings undermine separateness, solidity, and the describable world, and introduce us to the buzzing vibrant quality within the felt energies of our immediate experience. If you sense that "normal" really isn't, the contemplations in the book are potent and surprising. These conversations via Skype, email, and in person were compiled and edited during the editor's sabbatical, under the topic of art and perception. Included in the book is the sabbatical preface that directly link the insights to art training and practice.

The Conversations We Have written by Stanley Rogers ( Wolfman) and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-09 with Family & Relationships categories.

The Conversations We Have is a book that offers the author's personal thoughts and experiences on a variety of topics. These are popular topics that people either discuss or think about discussing on a regular basis. This book reminds us that regardless of the issues that keep us steadfast or distracted from our goals, we still have a responsibility to communicate our thoughts to each other. The Conversations We Have reminds us of this simple fact by sharing some short stories and poems. The debate about the application of effective communication has long been a topic of discussion concerning its importance to conversations. Although the beliefs may vary, conversations are a very important part of our existence. If we cannot communicate our thoughts to our friends, family, and colleagues, we are lost. This book was not written to confuse anyone. The sole purpose is sharing the author's own ideas and experiences and those that other individuals have shared with him. Through this exchange, he reiterates the fact that people are different and have distinct reasons for, and methods of, communicating. There should be no barriers that limit our ability to share ideas and to learn through the conversations that we have with each other.
