“A high-octane, electric look at Madison Avenue craziness from a pair who’ve been there and done that.”—Publishers Weekly One woman attempts to beat the boys club at their own game in this wickedly funny novel that is both a takedown of the advertising industry and an inspiring story about breaking through the glass ceiling. Twenty-something copywriter Kay Carlson has landed her dream job at the top ad agency in New York City, but it turns out life at the edgiest shop in town is less “Lean in” and more #MeToo. Talent and hard work don’t count as much as winning the approval of her hotshot creative director, Elliott, whose idea of team-building is bullying his boy tribe to tag along to the strip club. Meanwhile, Kay is stuck at the office penning puns for the cat food account none of the cool kids will touch. When the agency's biggest client threatens to fire them, Kay realizes her job will be first on the chopping block if she doesn't find a way to outshine the old regime. Winning another account will require all her creativity and strength, but can Kay find the confidence to risk it all so she can rewrite the rules from the corner office? Or will she be on the first bus back to Jersey, too washed up to write copy for the phone book?

Taking the Land This book, the 5th in the series, is about overcoming or taking the Land. Every now and again it's good to get back to basics. On the one hand we've got our legal standing (us in Christ), and on the other our literal state (Christ in us). When we claim our legal standing - "Us in Christ," we are hidden. We are in Christ. When God looks at us, He only sees Jesus. This is our legal standing, us in Christ, and it is declared in the Word of God (a done deal) and we accept it by faith and need to stand on it. Because we are in Christ we are justified. We are now acquitted and declared righteous before God. This has nothing to do with us or anything we can do in our own strength. Our justification comes only by the grace of God - we cannot earn it. Our literal state, Christ in us, is the second side of the salvation coin, the born again experience. New life is imparted at regeneration and as we yield and submit ourselves to Christ's Spirit in us we are changed more and more into His image. Confusion often comes, however, when these two important truths - our legal standing and our literal State - are transposed or used incorrectly. If they are we may very well experience condemnation and leave strife and confusion everywhere we go. Our approach to God is based on our right standing (our hidden state) not on our literal state. Conversely, our approach to our neighbour is based on our literal state (not our hidden state). Hopefuly our neighbour will see Christ in us (the fruit of the Spirit), but also he might see the (warts and all) other side of us too. Taking the Land is intended to both inform and encourage.

NOW A MAJOR FILM DIRECTED BY GEORGE CLOONEY AND STARRING BEN AFFLECK 'Highly entertaining . . . constructed as skilfully as a drink mixed by the author's Uncle Charlie' New York Times 'Moehringer writes with a survivor's wisdom . . . The Tender Bar is a memoir, but has the texture of a novel' Sunday Telegraph In the rich tradition of bestselling memoirs about self-invention, The Tender Bar is by turns riveting, moving, and achingly funny. An evocative portrait of one boy's struggle to become a man, it's also a touching depiction of how some men remain lost boys. JR Moehringer grew up listening for a voice, the voice of his missing father, a DJ who disappeared before JR spoke his first words. As a boy, JR would press his ear to a battered clock radio, straining to hear in that resonant voice the secrets of identity and masculinity. When the voice disappeared, JR found new voices in the bar on the corner. A grand old New York saloon, the bar was a sanctuary for all sorts of men -- cops and poets, actors and lawyers, gamblers and stumblebums. The flamboyant characters along the bar taught JR, tended him, and provided a kind of fatherhood by committee. Torn between his love for his mother and the lure of the bar, JR forged a boyhood somewhere in the middle. When the time came to leave home, the bar became a way station -- from JR's entrance to Yale, where he floundered as a scholarship student; to Lord & Taylor, where he spent a humbling stint peddling housewares; to the New York Times, where he became a faulty cog in a vast machine. The bar offered shelter from failure, from rejection, and eventually from reality, until at last the bar turned JR away. 'A wonderful book . . . everyone in it is incredibly alive, everyone shines, and every vice is transformed into something glorious' James Salter J.R. Moehringer, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for feature writing in 2000, is a former national correspondent for the Los Angeles Times and a former Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. Moehringer is the author of the memoir The Tender Bar and the bestselling novel Sutton, and co-author of Open by Andre Agassi, Shoedog by Phil Knight and Spare by Prince Harry.

Seven Librarian Detective Series written by Bobby Cinema and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-10-09 with Performing Arts categories.

Bobby Cinema has written seven detective stories in one book about each different character going through solving a difficult case, being in the action and deal with real intensive stuff they had to go through from solving cases. For these seven ordinary detectives and their team, their work usually ends up in a library, which is their sanctuary and a place to read and relax at the same time. The first detective series is called Raymond: Librarian PI. Ray Levenstein, a former FBI agent, took over the head librarian job from his friend Jerry who helped him get in the LAPD police academy and became his mentor when he grew up. He was forced into retirement when he was shot in the line of fire when he was a FBI agent. Ray was well respected and highly decorated as an FBI agent, but he decided to retire at a young age of thirty-five. He took over Jerrys job as a head librarian in the Los Angeles Public Library and decided to run a detective agency in his library since he has a PI license. He hires Kevin Sandler, Nick Arbuckle, and Alyson Harris who joined the PI team. Thank you for reading the Seven Librarian Detective series. I hope you enjoy reading them. Who knows, maybe I can come up with another princess story in another time. This is my seventh book that I turn my seven librarian detective stories in one book. See you next time, and the library is now closed. Good-bye!
