Rouxinol do Rinaré nasceu em 1966 em Quixadá, sertão central do Ceará. Estreou em 1999 e desde então publicou mais de sessenta folhetos. Seu livro "Um curumim, um pajé e a lenda do Ceará" foi adotada como leitura no ciclo escolar fundamental em escolas daquele estado. Paralelamente à sua atividade de poeta, Rouxinol do Rinaré ministra oficinas de literatura de cordel. Venceu o 1o Concurso Paulista de Literatura de Cordel em 2002. Seu trabalho foi mencionado nas revistas francesas "Latitudes", "Quadrant" e "Infos Brésil". A literatura popular em verso passou por diversas fases de incompreensão e vicissitudes no passado. Ao contrário de outros países, como o México e a Argentina, onde esse tipo de produção literária é normalmente aceita e incluída nos estudos oficiais de literatura. Apesar da maciça bibliografia crítica e da vasta produção de folhetos (mais de 30 mil folhetos de 2 mil autores classificados), a literatura de cordel – cujo início remonta ao fim do século XIX – continua ainda em boa parte desconhecida do grande público, principalmente por causa da distribuição efêmera dos folhetos.
