La dimensione sacra del corpo umano è un tema classico che, attraverso i secoli e i confini, si è riproposto prepotentemente nei dibattiti e nelle rappresentazioni identitarie di svariate culture. Il compito di interpretare un simile oggetto di studio, che essendo per definizione “vivo” è in costante cambiamento, rappresenta una sfida per tutte le scienze umane. Tra le tematiche trattate nei saggi raccolti in questo volume vi sono la rappresentazione del corpo nei testi sacri delle tre “religioni del Libro” e nella relativa letteratura esegetica, la corporeità della divinità e del fedele, le modalità di codifica e di rappresentazione del corpo (atte a mostrarne la dimensione sacrale) specialmente per quanto riguarda la sfera dell’apparire, del rivestimento e della costruzione del gender. Ulteriori campi d’indagine sono le forme di sacralizzazione che coinvolgono il corpo in pratiche che si pongono al confine (o all’esterno) della sfera delle religioni tradizionali. Despite a variety of theoretical and practical undertakings, there is no coherent understanding of the concept of scale in digital history and humanities, and its potential is largely unexplored. A clearer picture of the whole spectrum is needed, from large to small, distant to close, global to local, general to specific, macro to micro, and the in-between levels. The book addresses these issues and sketches out the territory of Zoomland, at scale. Four regions and sixteen chapters are conceptually and symbolically depicted through three perspectives: bird's eye, overhead, and ground view. The variable-scale representation allows for exploratory paths covering areas such as: theoretical and applicative reflections on scale combining a digital dimension with research in history, media studies, cultural heritage, literature, text analysis, and map modelling; creative use of scale in new digital forms of analysis, data organisation, interfaces, and argumentative or artistic expressions. Doing research is an ever-changing challenge for social scientists. This challenge is harder than ever today as current societies are changing quickly and in many, sometimes conflicting, directions.
