Quasi Least Squares Regression written by Justine Shults and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-01-28 with Mathematics categories.

Drawing on the authors’ substantial expertise in modeling longitudinal and clustered data, Quasi-Least Squares Regression provides a thorough treatment of quasi-least squares (QLS) regression—a computational approach for the estimation of correlation parameters within the framework of generalized estimating equations (GEEs). The authors present a detailed evaluation of QLS methodology, demonstrating the advantages of QLS in comparison with alternative methods. They describe how QLS can be used to extend the application of the traditional GEE approach to the analysis of unequally spaced longitudinal data, familial data, and data with multiple sources of correlation. In some settings, QLS also allows for improved analysis with an unstructured correlation matrix. Special focus is given to goodness-of-fit analysis as well as new strategies for selecting the appropriate working correlation structure for QLS and GEE. A chapter on longitudinal binary data tackles recent issues raised in the statistical literature regarding the appropriateness of semi-parametric methods, such as GEE and QLS, for the analysis of binary data; this chapter includes a comparison with the first-order Markov maximum-likelihood (MARK1ML) approach for binary data. Examples throughout the book demonstrate each topic of discussion. In particular, a fully worked out example leads readers from model building and interpretation to the planning stages for a future study (including sample size calculations). The code provided enables readers to replicate many of the examples in Stata, often with corresponding R, SAS, or MATLAB® code offered in the text or on the book’s website.

The Comprehensive Resource for Designing and Implementing MSG Processes As organizations strive to make the best possible decisions on critical issues such as compensation, succession planning, staffing, and outplacement, they have increasingly turned to multisource feedback (MSF) for answers. But while use of MSF (or 360-degree) systems has proliferated rapidly, understanding of its complexities has not3/4and many companies are moving forward with MSF amid a dangerous void of systematic research and discussion on this powerful process. The Handbook of Multisource Feedback provides the most comprehensive compendium available of current knowledge and practice in MSF. The volume's diverse group of contributors3/4which includes renowned academics, practitioners, and applied researchers3/4represents the acknowledged thought leaders in the current and future practice of MSF. Through their multiple perspectives, they identify best practices in the design and implementation of MSF processes and offer key guidelines for decision making when using MSF. The book offers solid grounding in the nuts and bolts of MSF data collection and reporting, providing a process model that leads the reader step-by-step through each phase of an MSF system. It details the developmental and decision-making uses of multisource feedback, describing MSF applications for improving executive development, organization development and change, teams, performance management, personnel decision, and more. And it addresses the realities of system forces that influence MSF processes, including legal, ethical, and cross-cultural issues. The Handbook of Multisource Feedback will provide an ideal one-stop reference for practitioners, researchers, consultants, and organizational clients who need to understand the challenges of using multisource feedback. The Editors David W. Bracken, is director of research consulting at Mercer Delta Consulting group, LLC. His twenty-two years of practice have included multisource feedback systems, individual and organizational assessments, performance management, and management development. Carol W. Timmreck, is an organization development consultant at Shell Oil Company. She is a cofounder of the Multisource Feedback Forum, a consortium of organizations with active MSF processes. Allen H. Church, is a principal consultant in management consulting services at PricewaterhouseCoopers, specializing in multisource feedback systems and organizational surveys. He is also an adjunct professor at Columbia University. The complete guide to MSF systems Handbook of Multisource Feedback offers a comprehensive, multiperspective look at the most current knowledge and practice in multisource feedback (MSF) systems. Drawing from extensive research and practice, a diverse group of distinguished contributors presents the "best practices" in the field and offers pragmatic guidelines for decision making at each step of design and implementation of an MSF process. This new resource provides a coherent, intuitive, and theoretical foundation for the fusion and exploitation of traditional sensor data as well as text-based information. In addition to presenting a detailed discussion of base-level data fusion requirements, a variety of higher level exploitation algorithms are presented that perform fully automated relationship discovery, rank interest level of entities, and support context-sensitive behavior understanding (both static and dynamic context). This book identifies eight canonical fusion forms as well as twenty foundational fusion services to enable formal mapping between models and services. Normalization and representation processes for (hard) sensor data and (soft) semantic data are described as well as methods for combining hard and soft data. Included is a prototype fusion system developed to implement virtually all the presented applications in order to demonstrate the robustness and utility of the design principles presented in this resource. The prototype system presented supports a variety of user workflows and all the applications are fully integrated. There is extensive fusion system output for unclassified scenarios to permit the reader to fully understand all presented design principles. This book also presents context-sensitive fuzzy semantic spatial and temporal reasoning.

This book presents the thoroughly refereed and revised post-workshop proceedings of the 19th Monterey Workshop, held in Beijing, China, in Ocotber 2016. The workshop explored the challenges associated with the Development, Operation and Management of Large-Scale complex IT Systems. The 18 revised full papers presented were significantly extended and improved by the insights gained from the productive and lively discussions at the workshop, and the feedback from the post-workshop peer reviews. 2016 marks the 23rd anniversary for the Monterey Workshop series which started in 1993. For nearly a quarter of century, the Monterey Workshops have established themselves as an important international forum to foster, among academia, industry, and government agencies, discussion and exchange of ideas, research results and experience in developing software intensive systems, and have significantly advanced the field. The community of the workshop participants has grown to become an influential source of ideas and innovations and its impact on the knowledge economy has been felt worldwide.

Multi Source National Forest Inventory written by Erkki Tomppo and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-09-25 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Building on more than a decade of innovative research into multi-source forest inventory (MS-NFI) this book presents full details of the development, outputs and applications of the improved k-NN method. The method, which was pioneered in Finland in 1990, is rapidly becoming a world standard in forest inventory, having been adopted as standard in Finland and Sweden, and recently introduced in Austria and across the US. The book describes in detail the full MS-NFI process, and the input data used – including field data, satellite images, and digital map data, as well as coarse-scale variation of forest variables. It also presents comprehensive information on the types of outputs which can be derived, including maps and statistics, describing, for example, stock volumes and development, dominant tree species, age-class distribution, and large and small-scale variation. The book will provide an invaluable resource for those involved in forest inventory, including government departments and bodies involved in forest policy, management and monitoring, forest managers, and researchers and graduate students interested in forest inventory, modelling and analysis. It will find an additional market among those interested in Earth observation, ecology and broader areas of environmental and natural resource management. Erkki Tomppo was the winner of the 1997 Marcus Wallenberg Prize for his work on the k-NN method.
