The Colombian activist Juan Gregorio Palechor (1923–1992) dedicated his life to championing indigenous rights in Cauca, a department in the southwest of Colombia, where he helped found the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca. Recounting his life story in collaboration with the Colombian anthropologist Myriam Jimeno, Palechor traces his political awakening, his experiences in national politics, the disillusionment that resulted, and his turn to a more radical activism aimed at confronting ethnic discrimination and fighting for indigenous territorial and political sovereignty. Así, la finalidad de esta investigación es hacer un diagnóstico del Programa Nacional de Casas de Justicia y realizar algunas recomendaciones de política pública que potencien sus virtudes y mejoren el acceso a la justicia. Para ello revisamos la literatura comparada sobre programas similares que se han implementado en otros países y los estudios que se han hecho en Colombia; realizamos entrevistas a distintas personas conocedoras de las casas de justicia, bien sea porque han estudiado académicamente el programa o porque tienen alguna relación a nivel laboral con las mismas; e hicimos observación y visitas a ocho casas de justicia.

Why do armed groups employ terrorism in markedly different ways during civil wars? Drawing on more than a decade of fieldwork, Andreas E. Feldmann examines the disparate behavior of actors including guerrilla groups, state security forces, and paramilitaries during Colombia’s long and bloody civil war. Analyzing the varieties of violence in this conflict, he develops a new theory of the dynamics of terrorism in civil wars. Feldmann argues that armed groups’ distinct uses—repertoires—of terrorism arise from their particular organizational identities, the central and enduring attributes that distinguish one faction from other warring parties. He investigates a range of groups that took part in the Colombian conflict over the course of its evolution from ideological to criminal warfare, demonstrating that organizational identity plays a critical role in producing and rationalizing violence. Armed parties employ their unique repertoires as a means of communication to assert their relevance and territorial presence and to differentiate themselves from enemies and rivals. Repertoires of Terrorism is based on an extensive data set covering thousands of incidents, as well as interviews, archival research, and testimony. It sheds new light on both armed groups’ use of violence in Colombia’s civil war and the factors that shape terrorist activity in other conflicts.

La historia de la Corte Suprema de Justicia de Colombia, 1886-1991, tiene como base la investigación que desarrollé en el Doctorado en Derecho de la Universidad de los Andes, entre los años 2008 y 2012, con el apoyo del programa de doctorados nacionales de Colciencias. Sobre lo ocurrido el 28 de abril de 2021 y las semanas siguientes se cuentan ya más de una decena de libros, unas cuatro revistas de alto nivel académico y un sinnúmero de artículos de prensa y magazines. Las preguntas son diversas, y las disciplinas de interpretación, plurales. Frente a tal conjunto de artefactos hermenéuticos, este libro pretende sustentar sus tesis en información empírica construida a través tanto de bases de datos sociodemográficas, económicas y de protestas sociales —en un lapso anterior al paro nacional, que se remonta incluso a varias décadas— como de entrevistas a diferentes protagonistas sociales, etnografías en nodos de las protestas y revisión de prensa, entre otras fuentes primarias. Con la gran movilización del 2021 no solo Colombia ingresa a la historia contemporánea latinoamericana y se pone en primera plana en el siglo XXI, también surgen preguntas que no nos habíamos hecho.
