Are you open to re-imagining your relationship with God as a friendship? Do you want to be transformed into the person God wants you to be? Friendship with God transforms us. As we learn to trust God as our Divine Friend, it has a transforming effect on our whole lives. It affects how we pray, our relationships with each other and the way we understand our everyday lives. It changes the way we think and feel, what we desire and long for, the way we see each other and how we seek to live our lives in the world. We could say our friendship with God creates the climate in which you and I become the people God wants us to be. In his latest book, Friendship with God, Trevor Hudson digs into these two interwoven themes of friendship and personal transformation. He explains that friendship is a helpful analogy for the intimate kind of relationship God wants with us. Put very simply, the gospel invites you and me into friendship with God. Live in the love of a God who desires a relationship with you. Throughout A Friendship Like No Other, renowned spiritual director William A. Barry, SJ, explores the premise that God wants to relate to us as a close friend. Barry has contemplated this idea—radical for many Christians—throughout his lifetime, and he explains that it actually traces back to the “developing revelation of God contained in the Bible.” A Friendship Like No Other offers three well-supported and practical sections: prayerful exercises to help lead you to the conviction that God wants your friendship; a close look at objections to this idea; and reflections on experiencing the presence of God and discerning those experiences. Brief, personal meditations are woven throughout. Grounded in biblical tradition and with a clear focus on Ignatian spirituality, this book offers a fresh, heart-changing approach to living joyfully in the freedom of the divine embrace.

Friendship with God existed for others, and it is possible for you and me too. Having unfeigned friendship with God is what we were created for. Through the fall of man, sin separated us from God's relational presence and companionship, however through salvation and Jesus' redemptive blood we are able to reconcile and reconnect in relationship- in friendship. The conversation throughout this book is an invitation to begin your journey at uncovering friendship with God and forging your own unique relationship with Him. My forever prayer is that this book has in some way been a blessing to you, opening your heart and mind to receiving and perceiving friendship with God differently. As you contemplate, may you seek to uncover (or rediscover for some) a renewed, intimate, and congruent relationship- friendship- with the Only One that truly matters- God. It is what we were created for. I hope you'll appreciate your journey, realizing that it is a life- long process- each day being better than the previous. As you stride daily in humble obedience, may you never settle on your odyssey, as going through the motions may cause you to become fatigued and weary. But understand that our relationship is a choice to choose that will require conscious and consistent effort. Like any relationship, confront your inconsistencies and failings as mundane Christianity should never be satisfying. And as you grow, curate an awareness of God's presence and proximity, seeing His fingerprints and footsteps in every area of your life. He chose us as friends without hesitation and in full certainty, my hope is that we- you and I- will choose Him too.

The search to establish what is true and real regarding creation, life, and metaphysical states has tormented the human mind for millennia and has instigated many intense discussions. It was a brightly moonlit, star-studded sky when the heavenly bodies instigated a similar discussion between two friendsPotes and Mitsos, the two characters of this book. Potes is aware of the animosity that political and theological discussions could bring about, even between two good friends, whenever they have deep-rooted philosophical differences in those subjects; and he would rather not have them. However, he is not afraid to express his opinion when goaded. Mitsos, on the other hand, is persistent and adamant in his religious beliefs, traditions, and in the existence of Almighty God. In the dialogue between the two, Potes projects his convictions using scientific facts as well as quotations from the Bible while Mitsos, a good and faithful Christian, questions his friends position not only using theological philosophies and traditions that have stood the test of time but also using in defense of his position Crito by Plato and The Clouds by Aristophanes. None of the two characters of the book is a monolith. The comments or questions of one cause the other to think before he responds, and the combination of the two induce questions into the readers mind as to who of the two is correct. The conversation is bold and daring, considering the time period and the religious and social environment that prevailed when it assumingly took place. For Potes, the scientist, more than Mitsos, the religion teacher, no religious matter is considered taboo to be excluded from discussion and for its validity not to be examined. The dialogue does not delve into the rudimentary bases of the Christian religion only but also into, among other thigs, the Greco-Roman gods, the existence of the soul, the four related supernatural events (miracles, apotheosis, resurrection, and ascension), Genesis of the old testament versus cosmogenesis (the Big Bang theory), biopoiesis, cosmotheism, autocracy versus democracy, and not the least, the efficacy of hope. This is a book that demands an open mind.

One of the most unique aspects of Christianity is that the Creator of the universe draws us, the created, into a place of close relationship with himself. If you and I stopped at this point, it is quite certain that God has done more than we deserve. But God does not leave us to ourselves, even at the early stages of our born-again experience. He beckons each of us to live an existence that not only includes him but encompasses the kingdom through every part of our being. This is the place of close relationship that Jesus told his disciples they would experience. It is the place of moving past just working for God and becoming a friend of God. This book will give you tools to understand the process, steps for you to get there, and how to live it out each day.
