If you enjoy books by Brene’ Brown, Adam Grant, and James Clear, you will love this book. If you have been searching for a leadership training or coaching guide that fits your unique situation, look no further. In Crossing Meridians: Engineering Disruption to Become a More Effective Leader, the author shares her tested approach to leadership enrichment and provides a workbook to help leaders plan and own their development journey. The author thoughtfully shows aspiring to mid-career leaders how to own their career success, moving from their familiar ways of working and thinking to heightened leadership. With her Crossing Meridians approach, which is both a mindset and a method, the author provides the framework for a deeply personal, step-by-step approach to leadership development that guides leaders through learning cycles. Whether you are a new manager or a leader who needs to sharpen your leadership skills, Crossing Meridians can help you. In the book, leaders are encouraged to engineer their own disruption—taking on uncomfortable, more complex development actions that allow them to cross divides while gaining the essential leadership capabilities of empathy, openness, and resiliency. Leaders are shown how to define their Beginning Meridians, those early, pervasive influences that shape us. And they are shown how to envision their larger leadership and target, select, and execute development actions that move them from their Beginning Meridians to their New Meridians. The author also draws the connection between the Crossing Meridians leadership development method and today’s real world challenges. She makes the case that organizations today are presented with a myriad of pressing issues, like social and racial justice, that they cannot ignore. With increased expectations and scrutiny from customers, employees, communities, and partners, organizations have made significant promises that require strong leadership to deliver on those promises. The author shows how leaders that have crossed meridians are invaluable to these organizations because of their heightened leadership agility and insights borne of learning through disruption and discomfort. To help readers plan their leadership development, the author has included a workbook. It is where leaders can assess, distill, reimagine, plan, act, and repeat on their journey to becoming more effective leaders.

Archaeological research is uniquely positioned to show how native history and native culture affected the course of colonial interaction, but to do so it must transcend colonialist ideas about Native American technological and social change. This book applies that insight to five hundred years of native history. Using data from a wide variety of geographical, temporal, and cultural settings, the contributors examine economic, social, and political stability and transformation in indigenous societies before and after the advent of Europeans and document the diversity of native colonial experiences. The book’s case studies range widely, from sixteenth-century Florida, to the Great Plains, to nineteenth-century coastal Alaska. The contributors address a series of interlocking themes. Several consider the role of indigenous agency in the processes of colonial interaction, paying particular attention to gender and status. Others examine the ways long-standing native political economies affected, and were in turn affected by, colonial interaction. A third group explores colonial-period ethnogenesis, emphasizing the emergence of new native social identities and relations after 1500. The book also highlights tensions between the detailed study of local cases and the search for global processes, a recurrent theme in postcolonial research. If archaeologists are to bridge the artificial divide separating history from prehistory, they must overturn a whole range of colonial ideas about American Indians and their history. This book shows that empirical archaeological research can help replace long-standing models of indigenous culture change rooted in colonialist narratives with more nuanced, multilinear models of change—and play a major role in decolonizing knowledge about native peoples.

This is the eighth edition of the four-yearly review of mathematics education research in Australasia. Commissioned by the Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia (MERGA), this review critiques the most current Australasian research in mathematics education in the four years from 2008-2011. The main objective of this review is to celebrate and recognise significant findings; highlight relationships between research; identify themes; and forecast further research directions. This theme-based review has produced a comprehensive analysis of Australasian research in a politically challenging time—producing a manuscript with implications for a wider, international, audience. As the 2009 Felix Klein medal winner Gilah Leder states: A substantial body of research is captured in the chapters of this review. It encompasses the labours of a community of active researchers, with varied interests and diverse theoretical perspectives. Some of the issues explored in the period covered by this volume clearly resonate with questions and concerns particularly pertinent to the changing educational environment; others are more aptly described as continuing or renewed explorations of areas of long standing concern.

The Power Of Reconciliation written by Justin Welby and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-06-09 with Self-Help categories.
The Power of Reconciliation is Archbishop Welby's most important book to date. This revolutionary book was published for the 2022 Lambeth Conference in July, when bishops from all around the world assembled in Canterbury. But its importance goes far beyond these confines. The author deals with conflict and reconciliation within families, businesses, warfare between nations, races and all forms of political conflict. Welby writes about Reconciliation as seeking to disagree well. It relates to both religious and secular communities, from the household to the international. Conflict is widespread. With the after-effects of COVID, changes in science and technology, inequality, and increasingly polarized political and social strife, moves towards reconciliation are more necessary than ever. Both before ordination and since Welby has seen conflict first-hand. He has spent many years working on issues of conflict around the world. The book is full of practical advice for all those in authority on how to bring about reconciliation. There is even a step-by-step guide for this, drawn from the author's own experience. The book is thus down-to-earth, plugged into reality and devoid of pointless optimism or a Pollyannaish view of our contemporary problems. Furthermore, there is the dignity of difference. Today there is so much intolerance of views that are other than our own as we demonize those we do not agree with. The book concerns the secular sphere every bit as much as the religious, though Welby's message is Christian inspired, and the influence of Desmond Tutu strongly felt.

Business Ethics And Continental Philosophy written by Mollie Painter-Morland and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-10-06 with Business & Economics categories.
Business ethics has largely been written from the perspective of analytical philosophy with very little attention paid to the work of continental philosophers. Yet although very few of these philosophers directly discuss business ethics, it is clear that their ideas have interesting applications in this field. This innovative textbook shows how the work of continental philosophers - Deleuze and Guattari, Foucault, Levinas, Bauman, Derrida, Levinas, Nietzsche, Zizek, Jonas, Sartre, Heidegger, Latour, Nancy and Sloterdijk - can provide fresh insights into a number of different issues in business ethics. Topics covered include agency, stakeholder theory, organizational culture, organizational justice, moral decision-making, leadership, whistle-blowing, corporate social responsibility, globalization and sustainability. The book includes a number of features designed to aid comprehension, including a detailed glossary of key terms, text boxes explaining key concepts, and a wide range of examples from the world of business.
