De Haan of Bryn Mawr College, who, finding it impossible to complete his work on the notes and vocabulary, readily assented to the suggestion of the publishers that I Should edit the stories. Professor De Haan states that these stories appeared in Madrid be tween 1885 and 1897 and were afterwards published in collections by various authors.
