Buceando en las tormentosas aguas de las políticas públicas implementadas en la Argentina reciente y en sus resultados, a menudo desalentadores, este libro apunta a discutir la concepción subyacente de las políticas públicas y de su relación con la sociedad. Intenta responder, tanto en un nivel teórico-metodológico como en un nivel del análisis de casos, dos preguntas acerca de las políticas públicas íntimamente relacionadas entre sí: la pregunta por su forma, es decir, por las características que tiene, en general, el proceso de políticas públicas en el Estado capitalista, y la pregunta por su función, por la relación que esas políticas guardan con los requerimientos de la reproducción social en la sociedad en la que vivimos. Con este libro buscamos aportar a la construcción de una perspectiva crítica de las políticas públicas, que es parte integrante de la crítica del Estado argentino. Laura Álvarez Huwiler se doctoró en ciencias sociales en la UBA, cursó una maestría en sociología económica en la UNSAM y una licenciatura en ciencia política también en la UBA. Además, cursó estudios de posdoctorado en la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Trabaja como profesora en la Universidad Nacional Arturo Jaureche y en la Universidad Nacional de Lanús y es investigadora del IESAC-Universidad Nacional de Quilmes. Compiló un libro y publicó artículos en libros y revistas nacionales y extranjeros. Alberto Bonnet se doctoró en ciencias sociales en la Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, México, y cursó una maestría en economía y una licenciatura en filosofía en la UBA. Trabaja como docente e investigador en la UBA y la Universidad Nacional de Quilmes. En esta última, dirige el programa de investigación "Economía y política en la Argentina contemporánea" (IESAC-UNQ).
