Daima noksanlarımızı, hatalarımızı bilmeli ve onları tamir ve ıslah etmeliyiz. En mühim, fakat bi-kayd kaldığımız bir nokta var ise o da çocuklarımızın terbiye ve tahsilidir. Bir çocuk ilk terbiyesini ailesinden, ilk tedrisini dahi mekteb-i ibtidaiyeden alır. Bir çocuk terbiye ve tedris-i ibtidaiyesini, ne kadar güzel bir surette alır ise o nispette ileride feyz bulur. Sevgili çocuklar! Siz vatanın ümid-i istikbalisiniz. Siz şimdi ne kadar küçük olursanız olunuz ileride vatan sizden pek büyük hizmetler bekler. Siz şimdi bir fidansınız, fakat bir fidan gibi büyüyüp kemale ereceksiniz. Siz ne bahtiyarsınız ki, mukaddes vatanın bütün emelleri, masum milletin bütün arzuları hep sizinle nihayet buluyor. Malumat-ı medeniye, vatan, millet, devlet ve idare-i ummiyeden bahseder. Vatan, bir milletin sakin olduğu topraklar, hâkim olduğu kıtalardır. Bir insanın vatanı doğduğu ve büyüdüğü memleket değildir, mensup olduğu milletin bütün memleketleri, bütün şehirleri, bütün köyleri, elhasıl bütün toprakları onun vatanıdır. Vatan bir milletin vücududur. Bir vücuttan hiçbir azayı ayırmak nasıl kabil değilse bir vatandan da bir cüz’ünü ayırmak öylece kabil değildir. Bizim milletimize “Osmanlı milleti” tabir olunur bu da Osmanlı bayrağı altında toplanan muhtelif kavimlerden mürekkeptir. Bunların başlıcaları: Türk, Arap, Arnavut, Kürt, Rum, Ermeni, Yahudi, Bulgar vesairedir. Bu muhtelif kavimlerin lisan ve dinleri ne olursa olsun hepsi Osmanlı namı altında birleşir. Osmanlı milletinin lisan-ı resmisi Türkçe olup teb‘a-i Osmaniye’den herkesin bunu bilmesi lazımdır.
