Norberto, è sempre stato uno sportivo. Ha vinto vari trofei fra i quali, il più illustre, il Campionato Europeo di football americano in Finlandia con la nazionale Italiana, coronamento di una carriera decennale che lo ha visto giocare in alcune delle più blasonate squadre d'Italia. Ha cercato di restituire quello che la vita gli ha donato e per questo motivo è andato in Africa come volontario. Durante quell'esperienza, è stato coinvolto in un grave incidente d'auto che lo ha spedito in coma per due mesi. Al risveglio ha scoperto che non avrebbe più camminato. Lesione midollare. Norberto quando giocava era un leader, un giocatore carismatico e non sarebbe stata certo una schiena spezzata ad impedirgli di fare quel che voleva. Nemmeno il cancro che lo ha colpito nel 2007 lo avrebbe potuto convincere del contrario. Ha cominciato a praticare la handbike. Nel 2009, ha attraversato gli Stati Uniti lungo la mitica US Route 66 rendendo così reale, quello che era stato definito da molti un sogno irrealizzabile o pura utopia. Partendo da Chicago è arrivato al molo di Santa Monica (Los Angeles) dopo quasi 3800 km percorsi a forza delle solo braccia. Nessuno al mondo con le sue stesse menomazioni fisiche, aveva mai compiuto qualcosa del genere prima di allora! Poi è tornato in Tanzania nella meravigliosa e selvaggia terra dei Masai e l'ha attraversata da ovest a est, sempre in handbike, compreso il punto in cui ebbe l'incidente. Durante questa avventura ha parlato a tantissime persone passando personalmente di villaggio in villaggio. Queste avventure altro non sono state che una commovente dichiarazione d'amore allo sport, alla natura e alla libertà. Antidoto potentissimo per purificarsi dalle tossine del dolore e scoprirsi ancora protagonista della vita.

Mario Antonio Pagaria è nato a Catania ma vive a Enna. È nato nel 1965 ed è laureato in Sociologia. È, inoltre, giornalista pubblicista, iscritto all'Ordine dei Giornalisti di Sicilia ed essendo un forte oppositore alla mentalità e all'azione di Cosa Nostra, negli anni 2003/2004, da corrispondente di Enna di un noto quotidiano siciliano, ha scritto articoli sull'ingerenza di Cosa Nostra negli appalti pubblici, della sua contiguità con una certa politica, e sulla turbativa d'asta. Per questa scelta coraggiosa ha dovuto pagare un duro prezzo in termini sociali. Scrive sin da piccolo e le sue liriche vertono su tematiche sociali, religiose e sentimentali. Ha avuto molti riconoscimenti e premi in seno a svariate manifestazioni nazionali; sta scrivendo un romanzo autobiografico e sarcastico sulla situazione socio - politica della sua terra, nonché sulla sua avversione al fenomeno mafioso inteso in tutte le sue estrinsecazioni, psicologiche, sociologiche e giudiziali. The search for general laws and regularities in Translation Studies gained new momentum in the 1990s when Baker (1993) promoted the use of large electronic corpora as research tools for exploring the linguistic features that render the language of translation different from the language of non-translated texts. By comparing a corpus of translated and non-translated English texts, Baker and her research team put forward the hypothesis that translated texts are characterized by some “universal features”, namely simplification, explicitation, normalization and levelling-out. The purpose of this study is to test whether simplification, explicitation and normalization apply to Italian translations of children’s books. In order to achieve this aim, a comparable corpus of translated and non-translated works of classic fiction for children has been collected and analysed using Corpus Linguistics tools and methodologies. The results show that, in the translational subcorpus, simplification, explicitation and normalization processes do not prevail over the non-translational one. Therefore, it is suggested that the status of translated children’s literature in the Italian literary “polysystem” (Even-Zohar, 1979, 1990) and, from a general viewpoint, all the cultural, historical and social conditions that influence translators’ activities, determine translation choices that can also tend towards processes different from those proposed by Baker.
