Sempre tomando a natureza como modelo e mestra, a autora transmite ao longo do livro toda a sua paixão pela natureza. Vale lembrar que este projeto teve origem em um trabalho da autora desenvolvido com crianças de rua, o Projeto Crer- Ser, que visa dar uma profissão digna a meninos que são institucionalizados (abrigos) ou moradores de áreas menos favorecidas. O livro segue em capítulos como se fosse um curso de jardinagem, começando por entender as plantas e o solo - a parte viva do jardim, passando pelos grandes grupos como se construísse uma casa: árvores - telhado e estrutura do jardim; arbustos e trepadeiras - as paredes, gramados e forrações - o piso; horta - a parte comestível, multiplicação - produção de mudas por sementes e partes vegetativas; pragas e doenças - como cuidar; manutenção - irrigação, adubação, poda, o que precisa ser feito após o plantio; como escolher uma planta para os diversos ambientes e como calcular as mudas necessárias.
