Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Theologie - Biblische Theologie, Note: 1,0, Bayerische Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: „Der Mann könnte längst ein Superstar sein – hätte er nicht das Charisma eines mürrischen Kinderbuch-Esels.“ In den Medien wird heutzutage der Begriff Charisma sehr häufig verwendet – allerdings meist in seiner Alltagsbedeutung, als besondere Ausstrahlung oder als gewisses Etwas einer Person. Es ist anzunehmen, dass viele Menschen diesen Begriff leichtfertig gebrauchen, ohne sich dessen theologischen und soziologischen Hintergrunds bewusst zu sein. Vor allem in Bezug auf Barack Obama, den 44. Präsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika, hat der Begriff Charisma in seiner alltäglichen Bedeutung, sowohl in positiver als auch in negativer Hinsicht, eine tragende Rolle inne: „Anfangs hatte sie kein Interesse an Politik. Doch das Charisma ihres Mannes hat Michelle Obama überzeugt.“ bzw. „Er muss bald Ergebnisse liefern, sonst schwinden Charisma und Unterstützung rasch.“ In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll allerdings nicht die Alltagsbedeutung der Begrifflichkeit Charisma thematisiert werden. Der Terminus technius Charisma ist in der Theologie in der Vergangenheit bereits ausführlich diskutiert und analysiert worden, wobei allerdings das Hauptaugenmerk dieser Untersuchungen auf dem Wirken des Heiligen Geistes, dessen Erneuerung in der Institution Kirche und der Beziehung von Charisma und Amt lag. Zu nennen sind in diesem Kontext u.a. Baumerts Gaben des Geistes Jesu und Charisma und Amt von Ulrich Brockhaus. Eine Ausnahme bildet die Dissertation des Theologen Michael N. Ebertz Das Charisma des Gekreuzigten aus dem Jahre 1984, welche sich mit dem soziologischen Aspekt des Charismabegriffs und somit der Weberschen Auslegung dieses Begriffs auseinandersetzt. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, sich von dem theologisch geprägten Terminus zu lösen, sich dessen soziologischer Definition nach Max Weber (1864-1920), „dem (Über)vater der Soziologie“ aus dessen posthum veröffentlichtem Werk Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft anzunähern und diesen in Bezug auf den Religionsstifter Jesus von Nazareth auszubauen, um der Themenstellung dieser Arbeit gerecht zu werden. Die Reduzierung des Bedeutungsspektrums von Charisma ist nötig, um das soziologische Charisma der Stifterpersönlichkeit von der neutestamentlich-theologischen Deutung dieses Begriffs abzugrenzen und zu differenzieren.
