Esra written by Benjamin Benno Adler and has been published by Otto Harrassowitz Verlag this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Jewish youth categories.

Die Benzinklausel Kraftfahrzeugklausel In Der Allgemeinen Haftpflichtversicherung written by Klaus D Hock and has been published by VVW GmbH this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009 with Law categories.

Torah Queeries written by Gregg Drinkwater and has been published by NYU Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-22 with Political Science categories.

In the Jewish tradition, reading of the Torah follows a calendar cycle, with a specific portion assigned each week. Following on this ancient tradition, Torah Queeries brings together some of the world's leading rabbis, scholars, and writers to interpret the Torah through a "bent lens." This incredibly rich collection unites the voices of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight-allied writers, including some of the most central figures in contemporary American Judaism. All bring to the table unique methods of reading and interpreting that allow the Torah to speak to modern concerns of sexuality, identity, gender, and LGBT life. Torah Queeries offers cultural critique, social commentary, and a vision of community transformation, all done through biblical interpretation. Written to engage readers, draw them in, and at times provoke them, Torah Queeries charts a future of inclusion and social justice deeply rooted in the Jewish textual tradition. A labor of intellectual rigor, social justice, and personal passions, Torah Queeries is an exciting and important contribution to the project of democratizing Jewish communities, and an essential guide to understanding the intersection of queerness and Jewishness.

Contingency In A Sacred Law written by Baber Johansen and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-29 with Law categories.

This book focuses on the Hanafite school of fiqh which originated in the eight century and is, geographically, the most widespread and, numerically, the most important representative of Muslim normativeness. The fiqh consists of liturgical, ethical and legal norms derived from the Islamic revelation. The introduction outlines the main boundaries between fiqh and theology and follows the modern debate on the comparison between the fiqh and the secularized law of the modern Occident. The core of the book is dedicated to the way in which the fiqh, in the period between the 10th and the 12th centuries, adapted to changing circumstances of urban and agricultural life (chapters I and II), to the way in which it marked off legal from ethical norms (chapter III), religious from legal status (chapters IV to VI) and legal propositions from religious judgment (chapter VII). The forms in which change of norms was made acceptable is discussed in chapter VIII. The last chapter deals with an attempt of Shi'i scholars in the Islamic Republic of Iran to answer new problems in old forms.

Queer Theory And The Jewish Question written by Daniel Boyarin and has been published by Columbia University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-12-10 with Literary Criticism categories.

The essays in this volume boldly map the historically resonant intersections between Jewishness and queerness, between homophobia and anti-Semitism, and between queer theory and theorizations of Jewishness. With important essays by such well-known figures in queer and gender studies as Judith Butler, Daniel Boyarin, Marjorie Garber, Michael Moon, and Eve Sedgwick, this book is not so much interested in revealing—outing—"queer Jews" as it is in exploring the complex social arrangements and processes through which modern Jewish and homosexual identities emerged as traces of each other during the last two hundred years.

Von Schwelle Zu Schwelle written by Liliana Ruth Feierstein and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Antisemitism categories.

Shows how German Jewish thinkers, from Mendelssohn through Hermann Cohen to Rosenzweig and Kafka, responded to antisemitism, on the one hand, and to the demand to assimilate and give up their Jewish identity on the other; and how these thinkers (and the French Jewish philosopher Emmanuel Levinas) generalized from the Jewish condition to a recognition of the Other and of the respect due to his rights and his identity. Analyzes German schoolbooks published since the Second World War that unconsciously perpetuate prejudices against Jews and others, and that deflect from genuine confrontation with the Holocaust, using devices such as suppressing the victims' ethnic identity (mainly in the GDR), denying them an individual personality and a name, and identifying with the victims in a way that usurps their victimhood: the Germans become the victims.

Mathematics Classrooms In Twelve Countries written by David Clarke and has been published by Sense Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Education categories.

The Learner's Perspective Study aims to juxtapose the observable practices of the classroom and the meanings attributed to those practices by classroom participants. The LPS research design documents sequences of at least ten lessons, using three video cameras, supplemented by the reconstructive accounts of classroom participants obtained in post-lesson video-stimulated interviews, and by test and questionnaire data, and copies of student written material. In each participating country, data generation focuses on the classrooms of three teachers, identified by the local mathematics education community as competent, and situated in demographically different school communities within the one major city. The large body of complex data supports both the characterisation of practice in the classrooms of competent teachers and the development of theory.
