Jahrhunderts , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das Kommunistische Manifest von Karl MARX und Friedrich ENGELS aus dem Jahre 1872 gehört sicherlich auch heute noch zu den „Klassikern“ der politischen Philosophie der Moderne. Besonders in Anbetracht der aktuellen globalen ökonomischen Situation im Sinne von Massenarbeitslosigkeit sowie weitgreifender Unsicherheit erfährt die kritische Philosophie von Karl MARX (1818-1883), die sich im Kommunistischen Manifest wider-spiegelt, ein neues Interesse – sogar weltweit. Schon seit der Antike, seit den Anfängen bei PLATON und ARISTOTELES, befasst sich die Philosophie auch mit der Politik. Die politische Philosophie geht dabei den Dingen auf den Grund – versucht die Zusammenhänge zwischen Moral, Politik und Gesellschaft so-wie den Menschen näher zu ergründen. Dabei analysiert sie vergangene und aktuelle Ordnungsformen wie beispielsweise die antike Polis oder die RÖMISCHE REPUBLIK und versucht dadurch Rückschlüsse auf die Gegenwart sowie der Zukunft zu ziehen. Inso-fern setzt sich die politische Philosophie mit dem sein und sollen der menschlichen Ideale in einer Gesellschaft auseinander. Einige solcher Beispiele hierfür wären die Freiheit des Individuums, die Rechtsstaatlichkeit sowie die Sicherheitsfrage oder die Verfassung. Im 19. Jahrhundert, der Zeit der Industriellen Revolution sowie der Hochindustrialisierung, erlangte die politische Philosophie, nicht nur in Bezug auf die Analyse der wirklichen aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Verhältnisse und Tendenzen, ihren vorläufigen Höhepunkt in der Moderne. Scheinbar bis besitzt das Kommunistische Manifest eine solche Aktualität, wodurch es gerade heutzutage für viele Menschen wieder sehr interessant erscheint. Nicht zuletzt deshalb, weil Karl MARX und Friedrich ENGELS die Entfremdung des Menschen in der neuen Wirtschaftsform des Kapitalismus scharf analysierten und detailliert darstellten. Somit ist ein zentraler Schwerpunkt des Kommunistischen Manifestes die auf Immanuel KANT zurückgehende Gegenüberstellung des Menschen als Selbstzweck einerseits und des Menschen als Mittel andererseits.

The Condition of the Working Class in England is one of the best-known works of Friedrich Engels. Originally written in German as Die Lage der arbeitenden Klasse in England, it is a study of the working class in Victorian England. It was also Engels' first book, written during his stay in Manchester from 1842 to 1844. Manchester was then at the very heart of the Industrial Revolution, and Engels compiled his study from his own observations and detailed contemporary reports. Engels argues that the Industrial Revolution made workers worse off. He shows, for example, that in large industrial cities mortality from disease, as well as death-rates for workers were higher than in the countryside. In cities like Manchester and Liverpool mortality from smallpox, measles, scarlet fever and whooping cough was four times as high as in the surrounding countryside, and mortality from convulsions was ten times as high as in the countryside. The overall death-rate in Manchester and Liverpool was significantly higher than the national average (one in 32.72 and one in 31.90 and even one in 29.90, compared with one in 45 or one in 46). An interesting example shows the increase in the overall death-rates in the industrial town of Carlisle where before the introduction of mills (1779–1787), 4,408 out of 10,000 children died before reaching the age of five, and after their introduction the figure rose to 4,738. Before the introduction of mills, 1,006 out of 10,000 adults died before reaching 39 years old, and after their introduction the death rate rose to 1,261 out of 10,000.

Jedoch ist heutzutage ein erneutes Interesse in der Aufarbeitung der Marxschen Theorie erkennbar, verliefen doch die bisherigen Forschungsansätze in der Vergangenheit einzig in der übermäßigen Befürwortung der Theorie durch die Wissenschaftler der Ostblockstaaten und einer Ablehnung der Theorie durch die Vertreter der westlichen kapitalistischen Staaten. Es stellen sich mehrere Fragen. Wurde denn die Wirtschaftstheorie von Marx von diesen sozialistischen und kommunistischen Regierungen überhaupt hinreichend übernommen? Die anderen Fragen, die geklärt werden müssen, sind die, ob diese Wirtschaftstheorie überhaupt eine sozialistische oder eine kommunistische Wirtschaft beschreibt und ob sie überhaupt in der Praxis anwendbar ist oder nur Theorie bleiben kann. Zunächst soll ein Überblick über das Leben, das Werk und die wissenschaftliche Methodik von Karl Marx als Einstieg in die Thematik erstellt werden. Demnach wird dann die Wirtschaftstheorie untersucht mit dem Hauptaugenmerk auf die Werttheorie, welche den Hauptpfeiler der Marxschen Wirtschaftstheorie darstellt.
