In Anbetracht zentraler Schlüsselwörter wie Profilbildung, Hochschulautonomie und Bologna-Prozess werden zahlreiche Reformvorhaben auf den Ebenen der Forschung, Lehre und der akademischen Selbstverwaltung durchgeführt. Hierbei greifen gegenwärtige Arbeiten klassische Gedanken zum soziologischen NI wiederholt auf. Die nötigen Impulse zu der Renaissance des NI in den Sozialwissenschaften geben zahlreiche Veränderungen innerhalb des Hochschulbereichs. Mit der Implementierung einer gestuften Studienstruktur mit international anerkannten Bachelor- und Masterabschlüssen soll das Ziel eines gemeinsamen europäischen Hochschulraumes realisiert werden. Die KMK hat am 12. Juni 2003 mit den „10 Thesen zur Bachelor- und Masterstruktur in Deutschland“ wesentliche Eckpunkte für diese Umstellung des deutschen Hochschulsystems festgelegt. Auf dieser Basis wurden im Oktober 2003 „Ländergemeinsame Strukturvorgaben gemäß § 9 Abs. 2 HRG für die Akkreditierung von Bachelor- und Masterstudiengängen" verabschiedet. Doch wie kann es zu einer Angleichung von formalen Strukturen von Organisationen im deutschen Hochschulsektor kommen? Um dieser Frage nachzugehen, wird die Einführung von Bachelor- und Masterstudiengängen (BMS) in Deutschland fokussiert. Der Schwerpunkt dieser Arbeit besteht darin, die Strukturangleichung von den Organisationen des tertiären Bildungssektors mit dem klassischen Isomorphiemodell der neo-institutionalistischen Theorie zu erläutern. Daraus ergibt sich folgende Gliederung: Nach einer entsprechenden Einführung in die Thematik umfasst das Zweite Kapitel den theoretischen Rahmen, um die Bedeutung des neo-institutionalistischen Ansatzes zu verstehen. Ferner wird definiert, was genau sich hinter dem Label des soziologischen NI verbirgt und welche Schlüsselbegriffe eine essentielle Rolle spielen. Anschließend wird das klassische Isomorphiemodell von DiMaggio/Powell überprüft: Das Kapitel 3 dient dem Zweck, Möglichkeiten aufzuzeigen, inwiefern es zu einer Homogenisierung innerhalb des organisationalen Feldes von Hochschulen kommen kann. In Kapitel 4 wird ein abschließendes Resümee gezogen.
