Wie wird wissenschaftliches Wissen vor dem Hintergrund seiner zunehmenden ökonomischen und politischen Bedeutung in modernen Gesellschaften im Social Web an der Schnittstelle klassischem Wissenschaftsjournalismus und Laienkommunikation vermittelt und ausgehandelt? Die vorliegende Studie geht dieser Frage nach und bedient sich dazu des Beispiels der aktuell wissenschaftlichen, politischen, ethischen und für viele Menschen sehr persönlich relevanten Debatte um Reproduktionsmedizin, die anhand einer systematischen Literaturrecherche aufgearbeitet wird. Mit einer qualitativen und quantitativen Framing-Analyse von journalistischen Onlineangeboten auf fünf Nachrichtenportalen und entsprechenden Leserkommentaren werden Zusammenhänge und Unterschiede zwischen beiden Kommunikationsformaten überprüft. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass der Schwerpunkt der Medienberichte auf der ereignisorientierten Darstellung politischer Konflikte oder der Aufbereitung von wissenschaftlichem Expertenwissen liegt. Obwohl Leser von der thematischen Einordnung durch Journalisten beeinflusst werden, stellen sie in ihren Kommentaren alltagsweltliche Fragen mehr in den Vordergrund. Dabei nutzen sie interaktive Funktionen in erster Linie zur reinen Meinungsäußerung und seltener zu Aushandlungsprozessen oder zum Austausch persönlicher Erfahrungen. Obwohl sie das öffentliche Informationsangebot über das Thema Reproduktionsmedizin erweitern, bleibt eine Kluft zwischen unwidersprochenem Expertenwissen und Laienkommunikation.

The art of the emblem is a pan-European phenomenon which developed in Western and Central Europe in the early modern period. It adopted meanings and motifs from Antiquity and the Middle Ages as part of a general humanistic impulse. Technological developments in printing that permitted the combination of letterpress with woodblock, and later copperplate, images, ensured that the emblem spread rapidly by way of printed collections. With time, emblematic ideas moved beyond Europe, conveying their insights and wisdom in the compact form of the book. These same books came to influence artists and designers working in the decoration of buildings, furniture, and household items, so that emblems entered personal life; they infiltrated festive culture, too. In such environments beyond the book, emblems were transported, adapted, and embedded in new functional contexts shaped by social, political, or religious conditions, but also by architectonical and regional art historical parameters. The results of these transformations are often of an intricate and complex meaning. The combination of word and image that constitutes the emblem still has resonance in contemporary art and architecture. The study of emblems allows us to look back at the collaborative endeavours of creative minds of earlier times from across Europe and beyond. At a time when that continent is under strain, and the world in general seeks to come to terms with globalization, emblems allow reflection on strongly shared cultural values and connections.

The study approaches the Refutatio omnium haeresium by "Hippolytus of Rome" from a completely new perspective. It offers a detailed analysis of the genre of the writing, which is identified as a protreptikos, a promotional writing for Christianity. One focus is the elaboration of the intention and working method of its author against the background of the method of authors of the imperial period. It is shown how the author creatively changes and compiles his original sources to suit his needs. Passages through the special material make it likely that it is largely a literary product of the author. This is followed by an extensive study of the so-called Peratics, which combines structural analysis and thorough examination of content.
