E un futuro diverso e migliore può essere immaginato e proposto dalle realtà che compongono l’universo del Terzo settore solo quando queste non si limitano a gestire servizi, ma si impegnano per affermare e realizzare istanze politiche di inclusione, riduzione delle disuguaglianze, pari dignità di tutte le persone. Solo così si può esprimere una forza politica ed etica che recepisca e faccia proprie le finalità tipiche del welfare. Ripercorrere il cammino del Terzo settore significa infatti restituire a chi lavora in questo ambito la consapevolezza della propria identità, portando alla luce quegli strumenti che hanno marcato importanti passaggi nelle politiche sociali: dalle prime istanze nate nella prossimità fisica alle situazioni di marginalità, fino alle piattaforme digitali che anticipano le sfide di domani. Questo volume nasce con l’intento di affrontare in forma di dibattito – attraverso il dialogo tra gli autori, ma anche dando voce a una pluralità di esperti, offrendo così una varietà di punti di vista – il rapporto tra Terzo settore e politica e, più precisamente, il modo in cui, grazie al lavoro svolto dal Terzo settore nell’arco di quarant’anni, le istituzioni hanno accolto le esigenze della società civile. Ma è anche un’occasione per rileggere la storia del Terzo settore e comprendere come la sua capacità trasformativa possa incontrare le istituzioni in un paese che sta mutando pelle dinanzi alle nuove esigenze e che fatica a trovare spazi di rappresentanza.
