Le thème central de ce livre est parti de la simple observation d'un champ cultivé, comparé à un espace naturel"sauvage": L'ordre parfait d'un côté avec une seule espèce de plantes parfaitement alignées et espacées et de l'autre une organisation qui n'a rien de chaotique, mais que l'on pourrait plutôt qualifier d'harmonieuse. L'ordre se construit par la sélection et l'exclusion, au final il ne doit en rester qu'un. L'ordre à pour vocation de former des individus. L'harmonie au contraire est le fruit d'une composition, de l'assemblage d'individus de natures différentes, elle a pour vocation de donner naissance à des organismes. Les lois qui régissent l'ordre ne sont pas celles qui permettent de former l'harmonie. L'auteur nous invite grâce à une meilleur compréhension des lois de la nature à une meilleur compréhension de qui nous sommes et de notre manière appréhender le monde. Une société ne peut reposer sur des valeurs individualistes, le champ de bataille ne peut produire qu'un champ de ruines. L'harmonie au contraire est source de prospérité et de paix. Aujourd'hui nous pensons devoir nous soumettre à l'ordre, l'harmonie est l'évidence de demain.

Sovereign Equality of States in International Law, R.P. Anand R.P.
