Elle est un point d'appui crucial dans des stratégies de poursuite ou de reprise d'études : un forum informel, où s'ébauchent de nouvelles formes de sociabilité ; un lieu donnant accès à des lectures qui aident à élaborer une identité singulière, à devenir un peu plus sujet de son destin, et pas seulement objet du discours des autres : enfin, quelquefois, une source d'informations sur des thèmes politiques, qui peut soutenir un désir d'inscription citoyenne.
