Esbozada en el famoso prólogo del Nunca más, consistía en condenar las dos "violencias" que habían convulsionado a la Argentina, un mismo demonio con dos caras: la violencia insurgente y la estatal. En el siglo XXI, resurge la teoría de los dos demonios, pero en una versión "recargada". Daniel Feierstein recorre las características de estas nuevas interpretaciones y sus similitudes y diferencias con la versión original de la teoría de los dos demonios, pero también los errores no forzados y las respuestas fallidas del campo popular que facilitaron su emergencia y colaboran en su actual difusión y crecimiento. Este libro es un intento de alertar sobre un riesgo. Desde 1983 a la fecha, por primera vez existe la posibilidad de que se lleven a cabo retrocesos en las disputas por el sentido del pasado represivo. Feierstein destaca que estas disputas siempre tienen efectos en el presente, de ahí que revisar críticamente los modos de interpretar nuestro pasado se vuelve una obligación política y una herramienta fundamental para construir cualquier respuesta efectiva.

Financial crises are nothing new in the annals of history of the capitalistic path of economic development; indeed, they are part of business cycle. This book presents a comparative analysis of the organizing trajectories of indigenous women’s movements in Peru, Mexico, and Bolivia. The authors’ innovative research reveals how the articulation of gender and ethnicity is central to shape indigenous women’s discourses. It explores the political contexts and internal dynamics of indigenous movements, to show that they created different opportunities for women to organize and voice specific demands. This, in turn, led to various forms of organizational autonomy for women involved in indigenous movements. The trajectories vary from the creation of autonomous spaces within mixed-gender organizations to the creation of independent organizations. Another pattern is that of women’s organizations maintaining an affiliation to a male-dominated mixed-gender organization, or what the authors call “gender parallelism”. This book illustrates how, in the last two decades, indigenous women have challenged various forms of exclusion through different strategies, transforming indigenous movements’ organizations and collective identities.
