Pastores que den la vida por las ovejas en lugar de explotar la grey; que no se doblen al pragmatismo ni vendan su conciencia por dinero o éxito. Pastores fieles y no pastores populares; hombres quebrantados y no astros ensimismados. Pastores que entiendan su misión y valoren su trabajo haciendo suya suyas las palabras de C. H. Spurgeon a sus estudiantes: "Hijos míos, si la reina de Inglaterra os invita para que seáis embajadores en cualquier país del mundo, no os rebajéis de puesto, dejando de ser embajadores del Rey de reyes y del Señor de señores". Por desgracia, la realidad es muy distinta. En la constelación de la grey evangélica cada vez hay más estrellas, cada vez son más los pastores a los que gusta ser tratados como astros del cine y actores de televisión, olvidando que las estrellas brillan donde el sol no está brillando, y que donde brilla el Sol de Justicia no hay espacio para que brille el hombre. Dios no comparte su gloria con nadie. Toda gloria dada al hombre es vanagloria, y el culto a la personalidad es idolatría y una abominación para el Señor. En la Iglesia sólo Jesús puede ser admirado, honrado y exaltado.
