This is a comprehensive guide to single-stranded RNA phages (family Leviviridae), first discovered in 1961. These phages played a unique role in early studies of molecular biology, the genetic code, translation, replication, suppression of mutations. Special attention is devoted to modern applications of the RNA phages and their products in nanotechnology, vaccinology, gene discovery, evolutionary and environmental studies. Included is an overview of the generation of novel vaccines, gene therapy vectors, drug delivery, and diagnostic tools exploring the role of RNA phage-derived products in the revolutionary progress of the protein tethering and bioimaging protocols. Key Features Presents the first full guide to single-stranded RNA phages Reviews the history of molecular biology summarizing the role RNA phages in the development of the life sciences Demonstrates how RNA phage-derived products have resulted in nanotechnological applications Presents an up-to-date account of the role played by RNA phages in evolutionary and environmental studies

Sensation In The Pelvic Region written by Jean Jacques Wyndaele and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-11-18 with Medical categories.

This book covers sensation in all major components of the pelvic region. The small pelvis is containing many different structures and viscera, and sensations elicited there are important for regulating a normal daily life and for warning that something is going wrong. The sensory system is driving in many aspects the motor activity, and precedes and guides the efferent functions. It is surprising that in the last 60 years the ratio between research and publications about sensory versus motor has gradually become less. There has been undoubtedly a rise in the number of publications written on pelvic sensation but in the same time the number of manuscripts on motor function have increased more. It is the hope that this compilation of most data available on sensation will be of interest for the reader, will incite to perform more research so that an important part of pelvic functional diagnosis and treatment modalities will use the whole of the mechanisms available. The book is intended for all interested in pelvic functions and the interactions between the different structures, specialists in urology, gastroenterology, sexuality, pain, pelvic floor function and dysfunction, paediatricians and geriatricians, neurologists, students and those in training . The reader will find interesting and challenging information, and suggestions for further research.

Origins Of Algae And Their Plastids written by Debashish Bhattacharya and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Science categories.

Algae are of central importance in marine and freshwater ecosystems. Recent molecular sequence analyses show that the algae are of polyphyletic origins and that their evolution is best explained by tracing the endosymbiotic events that have resulted in the origins of their plastids. This volume provides a highly readable, thorough and up-to-date account of the major findings in algal, cyanobacterial and plastid phylogeny. All major algal groups (e.g., green, red, heterokont, dinoflagellate algae) are treated in separate chapters by leading experts on these groups.

"Modern Reformed Theology In America Has shown astonishing variety in its expression. Grouped under the name "Reformed" are, in fact, five diverse traditions - the Princeton theology, Westminster Calvinism, the Dutch schools, Southern Reformed thought, and Neoorthodoxy. This book provides penetrating analysis of these five traditions and the two leading theologians of each. The result is an important advance in our understanding of what being Reformed has meant and what it should now mean in the late twentieth century." -- Publisher.

Molecular Microbial Ecology Manual written by A.D. Akkermans and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Science categories.

For a long time microbial ecology has been developed as a distinct field with in Ecology. In spite of the important role of microorganisms in the environ ment, this group of 'invisible' organisms remained unaccessable to other ecologists. Detection and identification of microorganisms remain largely dependent on isolation techniques and characterisation of pure cultures. We now realise that only a minor fraction of the microbial community can be cultivated. As a result of the introduction of molecular methods, microbes can now be detected and identified at the DNA/RNA level in their natural environment. This has opened a new field in ecology: Molecular Microbial Ecology. In the present manual we aim to introduce the microbial ecologist to a selected number of current molecular techniques that are relevant in micro bial ecology. The first edition of the manual contains 33 chapters and an equal number of additional chapters will be added this year. Since the field of molecular ecology is in a continuous progress, we aim to update and extend the Manual regularly and will invite anyone to deposit their new protocols in full detail in the next edition of this Manual.

This book provides a useful resource for medical doctors, nurses and students in the field of neurourological conditions. In this 2nd edition, 15 chapters are added, e.g. on urodynamic practice, psychogenic reasons of LUTDs, standard of care, physiotherapy, upper urinary tract rehabilitation to enable self-catheterization, pediatric neurourology, new surgical procedures. The editors have invited an impressive number of renowned contributors, including 98 internationally recognized specialists in this field from 25 countries in Europe, Asia, North America, and South America.
