Sigmund Freud’s discovery of psychoanalysis explores links between Freud’s development of his thinking and theory and his personal emotional journey. It follows his early career as a medical student, researcher and neurologist, and then as a psychotherapist, to focus on the critical period 1895-1900. During these years Freud submitted himself to the process that has become known as his ‘self-analysis’, and developed the core of his psychoanalytic theory. Drawing on Freud’s letters to his friend and confidant Wilhelm Fliess, and on selected psychoanalytic writings in particular his ‘dream of Irma’s injection’, Paul Schimmel formulates psychoanalytic dimensions to the biographical ‘facts’ of Freud’s life. In 1900 Freud wrote that he was ‘not a thinker’ but ‘a conquistador’. In reality he was both, and was engaged in a lifelong emotional struggle to bring these contradictory sides of his personality into relationship. His psychoanalytic discoveries are conceptualized in the context of his need to achieve integration within his psyche, and in particular to forge a more creative collaboration between ‘conquistador’ and ‘thinker’. Sigmund Freud’s discovery of psychoanalysis will be of interest to psychoanalysts, psychoanalytic psychotherapists, academics and teachers of psychoanalysis, and to all serious students of the mind.

The case of Daniel Paul Schreber was one of the most emblematic cases for Sigmund Freud, although the father of psychoanalysis never had a personal encounter with Schreber. Freud's analysis of the case was published in "Psychoanalytic Notes Upon an Autobiographical Account of a Case of Paranoia" in 1911, after reading Schreber's book: "Memoirs of My Nervous Illness (1903)". Through his work, Schreber became one of the most complex figures in the history of psychoanalysis, and his case became globally recognized once Freud analyzed it. R eading Freud is, as always, a journey of discovery in this endless ocean called the human being.

The Cut And The Building Of Psychoanalysis Volume Ii written by Carlo Bonomi and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-14 with Psychology categories.

The Cut and the Building of Psychoanalysis Volume II explores how the unformulated trauma associated with surgery performed on Emma Eckstein’s genitalia, and the hallucinations that Eckstein experienced, influenced Freud’s self-analysis, oriented his biological speculations, and significantly influenced one of his closest followers, Sándor Ferenczi. This thought-provoking and incisive work shows how Ferenczi filled the gaps left open in Freud’s system and proved to be a useful example for examining how such gaps are transmitted from one mind to another. The first of three parts explores how the mind of the child was viewed prior to Freud, what events led Freud to formulate and later abandon his theory of actual trauma, and why Freud turned to the phylogenetic past. Bonomi delves deeper into Freud’s self-analysis in part two and reexamines the possible reasons that led Freud to discard the impact and effects of trauma. The final part explores the interpersonal effects of Freud’s self-dissection dream, arguing that Ferenczi managed to dream aspects of Freud’s self-dissection dream on various occasions, which helped him to incorporate a part of Freud’s psyche that Freud had himself failed to integrate. This book questions the subject of a woman’s body, using discourse between Freud and Ferenczi to build a more integrated and accurate narrative of the origins and theories of psychoanalysis. It will therefore be of interest to psychoanalysts, psychotherapists, psychologists and social scientists, as well as historians of medicine, science and human rights. Bonomi’s work introduces new arguments to the contemporary debate surrounding Female Genital Mutilation.

Ballard, i Rolling Stones, i Beatles, William Burroughs, Jimi Hendrix, i Pink Floyd, Allen Ginsberg, Pete Townshend, Yoko Ono, Derek Jarman, David Hockney, i Clash, i Police, Gilbert & George, Vivienne Westwood, i Sex Pistols, Boy George, Charles Saatchi, Lucian Freud, Damien Hirst e moltissimi altri.

Sigmund Freud As A Consultant written by Edoardo Weiss and has been published by Transaction Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Psychology categories.

Sigmund Freud, despite his own reservations about philosophy, has by now earned a secure place as a philosopher. For some, Freud ranks high among modem philosophers of science, while for others he stands as one of our great modern ethical teachers. One of the great beauties of Edoardo Weiss' Sigmund Freud as a Consultant is that here we mainly find Freud as a dedicated practicing clinician. Not only did he regularly treat over half a dozen patients a day in Vienna, but he also tried through his correspondence to keep in touch with the clinical activities of his disciples abroad.Edoardo Weiss was one such disciple in whom Freud saw a central hope for the fate of psychoanalysis in Italy. Freud took Weiss into his confidence, and in his discussion of Weiss' patients one can find some of his most characteristic clinical points of view, including his moral biases both in favor of certain cases as well as against other types of human dilemmas. In its concrete details the book has much to teach. Weiss's narrative provides the circumstances surrounding the clinical cases for which he asked Freud's help. Two of Weiss's relatives went for analysis with Freud in Vienna, and they clearly did not hold back from Weiss what they had learned as well as what they considered the major limitations of Freud's approach. It is also worth noting that this volume contains the only known letter we have in which Freud openly discusses his own analysis of his youngest child, Anna.Weiss, who later left Italy and practiced for many years in Chicago, is now honored as a pioneering figure in the history of the Italian reception of Freud's work. Today the clinical practice of psychoanalysis and all things connected to it are flourishing there and the general ideology of contemporary Italy has been shaped and affected by the message Freud had to offer. Weiss' account of his relationship with Freud, as well as the clinical particularities documented here, form a permanent addition to our understanding of the early years of psychoanalysis.

Besides constituting a fundamental milestone in contemporary Western thought, Sigmund Freud's monumental corpus of work laid the theoretical-technical foundations on which psychoanalysts based the construction and development of the comprehensive edifice in which they abide today. This edifice, so varied in tones, so heterogeneous, even contradictory at times, has stood strong because of these foundations. Indeed, this book attempts to show, through its various chapters written by psychoanalysts from different parts of the world and sustaining varied paradigms, this enriching heterogeneity coupled with the invisible thread which strings together the diversity lent to it by its Freudian foundations. One of the characteristics of the Freudian opus highlighted in this context is the fact that when we are able to study it in perspective, it is possible to glimpse a path of incessant improvement, where ideas and concepts are constantly reformulated and become more complex as clinical facts and methodological and epistemological resources call for it. Inhibitions, Symptoms and Anxiety is the irrefutable proof of this affirmation.
