Dabei wird die Parteienlandschaft hinsichtlich der strukturellen Stärke, ihrer Durchsetzungskraft und Entwicklung in den Jahren ab 1990 betrachtet und versucht, zu erläutern, ob ähnlich wie in anderen postsozialistischen Staaten der Organisationsgrad der politischen Parteien für den Erfolg der Transformation von einem autokratischen zu einem demokratischen System wichtig war. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass sich in Georgien die schwach ausgeprägte und schlecht organisierte Parteienland zunächst negativ auf den Demokratisierungsprozess ausgewirkt hat, aber mit der Genese dieser Strukturen in Folge der Rosenrevolution eine positive Entwicklung für den weiteren Verlauf der Demokratisierung zu beobachten war.

Freedom in the World, the Freedom House flagship survey whose findings have been published annually since 1972, is the standard-setting comparative assessment of global political rights and civil liberties. The survey ratings and narrative reports on 193 countries and a group of select territories are used by policy makers, the media, international corporations, and civic activists and human rights defenders to monitor trends in democracy and track improvements and setbacks in freedom worldwide. Belarus is one of the least studied European states to emerge from the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. In fact, few Western specialists paid much attention to its affairs during the Soviet era.
