You always knew digital was going to change things, but you didn't realize how close to home it would hit. In every industry, digital competitors are taking advantage of new platforms, tools, and relationships to undercut competitors, get closer to customers, and disrupt the usual ways of doing business. The only way to compete is to evolve. James McQuivey of Forrester Research has been teaching people how to do this for over a decade. He's gone into the biggest companies, even in traditional industries like insurance and consumer packaged goods, and changed the way they think about innovation. Now he's sharing his approach with you. McQuivey will show you how Dr. Hugh Reinhoff of Ferrokin BioSciences disrupted the pharmaceutical industry, streamlining connections with doctors and regulators to bring molecules to market far faster--and then sold out for $100 million. How Charles Teague and his team of four people created Lose It!, a weight loss application that millions have adopted, achieving rapid success and undermining titans like Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig in the process.

Price Management written by Hermann Simon and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-12-11 with Business & Economics categories.

In this book, the world’s foremost experts on pricing integrate theoretical rigor and practical application to present a comprehensive resource that covers all areas of the field. This volume brings together quantitative and qualitative approaches and highlights the most current innovations in theory and practice. Going beyond the traditional constraints of “price theory” and “price policy,” the authors coined the term “price management” to represent a holistic approach to pricing strategy and tactical implementation. They remind us that the Ancient Romans used one word, pretium, to mean both price and value. This is the fundamental philosophy that drives successful price management where producer and customer meet. Featuring dozens of examples and case studies drawn from their extensive research, consulting, and teaching around the world, Simon and Fassnacht cover all aspects of pricing following the price management process with its four phases: strategy, analysis, decision, and implementation. Thereby, the authors take into account the nuances across industry sectors, including consumer goods, industrial products, services, and trade/distribution. In particular, they address the implications of technological advancements, such as the Internet and new measurement and sensor technologies that have led to a wealth of price management innovations, such as flat rates, freemium, pay-per-use, or pay-what-you-want. They also address the emergence of new price metrics, Big Data applications, two-sided price systems, negative prices, and the sharing economy, as well as emerging payment systems such as bitcoin. The result is a “bible” for leaders who recognize that price is not only a means to drive profit in the short term, but a tool to generate sustained growth in shareholder value over the longer term, and a primer for researchers, instructors, and students alike. Praise for Price Management “This book is truly state of the art and the most comprehensive work in price management.” - Prof. Philip Kotler, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University “This very important book builds an outstanding bridge between science and practice.“ - Kasper Rorsted, CEO, Adidas “This book provides practical guidelines on value creation, communication and management, which is an imperative for businesses to survive in the coming era of uncertainty.” - Dr. Chang-Gyu Hwang, Chairman and CEO, KT Corporation (Korea Telecom)

European Retail Banks An Endangered Species written by Andreas R. Dombret and has been published by Wiley-VCH this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-10-20 with Business & Economics categories.

In today's retail banking industry in Europe, the current situation is unsatisfactory: new technology standards have lowered the entry barriers and increased the reach of the various players within the industry. Market players face increased competition, margin pressure and low or even negative profitability. Banks face structural challenges (overbanked and a fragmented market, dominated by non-quoted banking institutions) as well as weak levels of customer loyalty putting pressure on banks to find winning strategies. Looking at the successes of "near- and non-bank" entrants, we start with the hypothesis that a superior sales capability lies at the root of increasing success and market penetration. Consequently, both production and infrastructure might become commodities, which the successful sales-focused players may want to outsource in the future. The consequence will be an increased technology-enabled specialization within the industry. The book analyzes the retail banking segment along its value chain and searches for success factors in each step. Additionally, we searches for possible new paradigms shaping the industry beyond the E-revolution. Examining benchmarks and best practices both within and outside the banking industry, we will challenge the traditional ways of doing business in each step of the value chain. Confronted with a pan European endgame situation and facing the danger of getting stuck in the middle between sales-oriented and technology-focused market players, today's banks will have to decide on their future business model, position themselves accordingly, and proactively develop respective core capabilities. New strategies incorporate not only internal changes, but also moves for external transformation. Alliances or M&A transactions offer the opportunity to successfully in- and/or outsource respective steps of the value chain and develop towards a focused and competitive market player . Hence, our report will discuss successful business models, transformation strategies, key success factors, transaction structures, and respective case studies. Only by positioning themselves carefully for the European retail banking endgame, retail banks will be able to improve their profitability and obtain a sustainable competitive advantage to survive in the future.

Responsible Investment Banking written by Karen Wendt and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-06-15 with Business & Economics categories.

This book provides evidence on the relevance of environmental and social factors in decision making. It discusses the Gold Standard Frameworks for integrating extra-financial risks into the philosophy, culture, strategies, products and value chain management procedures of investment and banking and highlights the current emergence of global administrative law. New emerging topics like positive impact investing and finance, climate friendly markets, human rights, the enhanced role of fiduciary duties and shared values are approached with a lot of examples for practical application. Steps towards a new banking culture, a new climate for double loop learning and sustainable financial innovation are outlined and the additional benefits of robust stakeholder engagement explained. The anthology paves the way from robust impact and risk management to positive impact creation and a new investment culture. As well, challenges for the implementation and ways to overcome them are broadly discussed. The book is rooted in the fact that institutions and investors which fail to professionally integrate the management of extra-financial risk into their whole lending and investment chain and fail to move to positive impact creation may well loose positions and mandates and finally the trust of their clients, partners and stakeholders. The contributing authors of this anthology are internationally renowned experts in the field of ESG and impact investing. The compendium brings together practitioners and academics to allow a confluence of thoughts, concepts and viewpoints. This huge variety of perspectives and approaches makes this volume a comprehensive compendium on responsible investment and banking.
