Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Politik - Internationale Politik - Region: Naher Osten, Vorderer Orient, Note: 2.0, Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen (Institut für Politikwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Proseminar "Einführung in die Internationalen Beziehungen", Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Am 20. März 2003 verwandelte sich durch den militärischen Angriff der sog. coalition of the willing auf den Irak der latente Irakkonflikt in einen manifesten. Im offiziell bis zum 2. Mai 2003 dauernden dritten Golfkrieg wurde das irakische Regime Saddam Husseins abgesetzt, der Staat besetzt und demokratische Wahlen durchgeführt. Der Irakkrieg kann als ein wichtiger Untersuchungsgegenstand der politikwissenschaftlichen Teildisziplin IB angesehen werden, die sich allgemein mit dem Verhältnis von Staaten zueinander und schwerpunktmäßig mit Konflikten und der Frage, wie Kriege entstehen und wie solche zu verhindern sind, beschäftigt. Eine dieser Theorieschulen der Internationalen Beziehungen ist der Konstruktivismus bzw. dessen Subtheorie Sozialkonstruktivismus, welcher erst in den 90er Jahren entstand, da zu dieser Zeit viele politikwissenschaftliche Theoretiker von der Notwendigkeit der Schaffung eines neuen Erklärungsansatzes in der IB überzeugt waren, da die bisherigen Theorien bezüglich der Vorhersage des unblutigen Ausgangs des Ost-West-Konflikts versagt hatten. Doch wie interpretiert der Sozialkonstruktivismus den Irakkonflikt? Kann er die Manifestierung des amerikanisch-irakischen Gegensatzes, also die Austragung mittels militärischer Gewalt erklären? Vermag die Theorie den Konflikt so zu analysieren, dass die Gründe für den Krieg ersichtlich werden? Kann der Sozialkonstruktivismus den Konflikt plausibel offenbaren oder sind hierzu die Ansätze anderer Theorieschulen besser geeignet? Mit diesen Fragen möchte sich die vorliegende Hausarbeit auseinandersetzen. Diesbezüglich soll im ersten Kapitel zunächst der Konflikt betrachtet und anhand des von Frank Schimme
