Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2003 im Fachbereich Politik - Politische Systeme - Historisches, Note: 1,8, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen (Institut für Politikwissenschaft), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der Mitte und zum Ende des Jahres 1920 wurde die italienische Sprache um neue Vokabeln bereichert: fascismo, um die politische Bewegung der Fasci di combattimento zu bezeichnen, die am 23. März 1919 von Benito Mussolini und anderen an der Piazza San Sepolcro in Mailand gegründet worden waren, fascisti, um deren Anhänger zu identifizieren. Der Begriff fascismo, Faschismus, drückt - im Gegensatz zu anderen politischen Begriffen - nichts aus, und leitet sich ab von den fasci, Bünden. Um diese Bünde, ihre Bündler und deren ganz besondere Form der Bündlerei, um den Faschismus, geht es in der vorliegenden Studie - von seinen Anfängen bis zur Mitte der dreißiger Jahre. Ihr Ziel ist es, den italienischen Faschismus als Phänomen der italienischen Geschichte zu erklären, denn der Faschismus ist "italienisch", in seinen Spezifika an Italien, seine Geschichte und politische Kultur gebunden, und der Begriff muss folglich für die politische Bewegung in Italien reserviert bleiben - ein Oberbegriff, der auch andere politische Bewegungen als "faschistisch" subsumiert, ist nicht zulässig. "Unserer Ansicht nach bedeutet den Faschismus definieren, zuallererst die Geschichte des Faschismus schreiben.",1 hält Angelo Tasca fest und dazu wird zunächst auf den Rahmen verwiesen, in dem das politische Phänomen entstand: den Risorgimento - Staat, seine Entstehung aus der besonderen Form von italienischem Nationalismus und Sozialismus. In der Auseinandersetzung über den Eintritt Italiens in den Weltkrieg wird seine früheste Form sichtbar, auch im Werdegang seines künftigen Protagonisten, des ehemaligen Marxisten Mussolini. Nothing affects the modern economy (and society) more than decisions made in the market place, especially, but not only, decisions made by consumers. Although it is not startling to suggest that decisions made in production are affected by choices consumers make, consumers have long been viewed, not only by academic economists, as individual, isolated rational actors that make or refrain from purchases purely on the basis of narrow financial considerations. Markets are not and never were morally neutral. Market relations have always had an often taken-for-granted moral underpinning. The moralization of the markets refers to the dissolution and replacement of the conventional moral underpinnings of market conduct, for example, in the music market, financial markets, and corporate governance. It further implies not only the heightened importance of new ethical precepts, but the significant change in the role of moral ideals in market behavior. These profound transformations of economic conduct are accompanied and co-determined by societal conflicts. The moralization of markets represents thus a new stage in the social evolution of markets. The book is divided into four parts, in which the twelve chapters, written by contributors from different social science disciplines, deal with the context of the moralization of the markets; the major social institutions; and present case studies that examine European and American attitudes and behavior towards tobacco and GMO; expansion of the private and ethics in business; and how workers respond to the new corporate norms. The concept of authoritarianism, first defined in The Authoritarian Personality published in 1950, has since been treated in a bewildering array of studies that have explored both its narrow psychological meaning and its broader social implications. In this volume, authors John P. Kirscht and Ronald C. Dillehay have provided a much-needed review of this growing subject, summarizing and evaluating about 260 studies that have appeared to date. Kirscht and Dillehay differentiate between the psychological and the sociological approach to authoritarianism, tracing the historical development of both schools of thought. They also outline three major views of authoritarianism: as antecedent to certain types of behavior (for example, ethnic prejudice), as the consequence of other variables (such as child rearing practices), or as a correlate of yet other processes(e.g. alienation); these views, in turn, suggest a variety of theoretical and methodological issues. The authors review, in addition, the multitudes of beliefs and behaviors thought to vary with authoritarianism, examining the validity of these relationships in empirical research. While the authors do not attempt to reformulate or redefine authoritarianism, they point up avenues for future research and single out significant research findings which are likely to offer the firmest ground for development.

How challenger parties, acting as political entrepreneurs, are changing European democracies Challenger parties are on the rise in Europe, exemplified by the likes of Podemos in Spain, the National Rally in France, the Alternative for Germany, or the Brexit Party in Great Britain. Like disruptive entrepreneurs, these parties offer new policies and defy the dominance of established party brands. In the face of these challenges and a more volatile electorate, mainstream parties are losing their grip on power. In this book, Catherine De Vries and Sara Hobolt explore why some challenger parties are so successful and what mainstream parties can do to confront these political entrepreneurs. Drawing analogies with how firms compete, De Vries and Hobolt demonstrate that political change is as much about the ability of challenger parties to innovate as it is about the inability of dominant parties to respond. Challenger parties employ two types of innovation to break established party dominance: they mobilize new issues, such as immigration, the environment, and Euroscepticism, and they employ antiestablishment rhetoric to undermine mainstream party appeal. Unencumbered by government experience, challenger parties adapt more quickly to shifting voter tastes and harness voter disenchantment. Delving into strategies of dominance versus innovation, the authors explain why European party systems have remained stable for decades, but also why they are now increasingly under strain. As challenger parties continue to seek to disrupt the existing order, Political Entrepreneurs shows that their ascendency fundamentally alters government stability and democratic politics.
