Die Folge ist, dass einzelne Wirtschaftszweige an Bedeutung gewinnen, wahrend andere verlieren. Spricht man vom Strukturwandel im Ruhrgebiet, so wird damit oft jene Krise assoziiert, die in den 1950er Jahren mit dem Zechensterben begann und zwei Jahrzehnte spater auch die Stahlindustrie erfasste. Jedoch ist der Strukturwandel im Revier" kein Ereignis der letzten 40 Jahre, sondern ein Prozess, den es seit Beginn der Industrialisierung im Ruhrgebiet gibt. Wirtschaftlicher Strukturwandel ist ein Charakteristikum in der Entwicklung dieser Region. Er bedeutet nicht allein Abbau bestehender Strukturen, so wie dies in altindustrialisierten Raumen weltweit zu beobachten ist. Strukturwandel im Ruhrgebiet bedeutet vielmehr das Zuruckdrangen der ehemals dominierenden Montanindustrie und der gleichzeitige Aufbau neuer Strukturen im Dienstleistungsund High-Tech-Bereich. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird zuerst erlautert, was unter dem Begriffen Strukturwandel und altindustrialisierte Raume zu verstehen ist. In diesem Zusammenhang werden auch dynamisch-zyklische Ansatze erwahnt, die betonen, dass sich die Wirtschaft in einem standigen Wandel befindet. Im Kapitel 3 werden die Ursachen und der Ablauf des Strukturwandels im Ruhrgebiet von der prafordistischen Phase bis in die Gegenwart vorgestellt. Von der Deindustrialisierung bis zu Neoindustrialisierung wird der Prozess des Wandels von einer Montanregion zu einer Dienstleistungsregion beschrieben, die aber an ihren industriellen Wurzeln festh

Raumplanung, Note: 1,3, Ruhr-Universitat Bochum (Geographisches Institut), Veranstaltung: Einfuhrung in das wissenschaftliche Arbeiten, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Strukturwandel des Ruhrgebiets stellt eine der wesentlichen Entwicklungen der letzten Jahrzehnte dar. Am Beispiel der Zeche Zollverein, Schacht XII in Essen soll diese Entwicklung konkret dargestellt werden. Eine besondere Rolle spielt dabei die Internationale Bauausstellung (IBA) Emscher Park, mit ihrem Bereich in Kunst, Industriekultur und Tourismus. Zunachst soll die Entstehung und die Entwicklung der Zeche Zollverein vorgestellt werden, sowie ihre Veranderung auf Grund des Strukturwandels im Ruhrgebiet. Weiterhin soll veranschaulicht werden, auf welche Weise die Zeche Zollverein, speziell Schacht XII, durch die IBA Emscher Park zwischen 1989 und 1999 verandert wurde. Schliesslich soll ein Ausblick gegeben werden auf die Moglichkeiten in naher und weiterer Zukunft, inwiefern alte Industriegebaude auch abseits ihrer ursprunglichen Bestimmung fur die Bevolkerung des Ruhrgebiets und fur den Tourismus weiterhin attraktiv bleiben konnen. Dabei stellt sich die Frage, inwiefern die Zeche Zollverein Schacht XII ein Modell fur den Strukturwandel altindustrialisierter Raume im Ruhrgebiet darstellt. Das Thema ist fur mich besonders interessant, da ich in Essen aufgewachsen bin und einen Teil dieses Wandels des Ruhrgebietes bewusst miterlebt habe. Die Zeche Zollverein halte ich fur besonders interessant, weil durch zahlreiche Ausstellungen und Veranstaltungen, die auf Zollverein stattgefunden haben, mein Interesse auf diesen ehemaligen Industriekomplex gelenkt wurde. So habe ich bereits vor einigen Jahren durch die Teilnahme an Fuhrungen durch die alte Schachtanlage und durch den Besuch des Designzentrums sowie weiteren Ausstellungen einen intensiven Einblick von Zollverein bekommen

Since the 1970s, cities world-wide have been witness to radical de-industrialisation. Manufacturing was considered incompatible with urban life and was actively pushed out. THE FIRST GERMAN edition of this book appeared in 1940. Since then the book has gone through five more editions and has been translated into Spanish and Italian. The present English translation is based on the sixth German edition. The author was Professor of Economics at the University of Freiburg, Germany. Professor Eucken was a student at a time when the Historical School dominated the teaching of econo mics at the German universities. Although, at the beginning of his career, he did some work along the lines of the Historical School, neither the ~ims nor the methods of historical research the field of economics as practised by the representatives in of the Historical School satisfied him; and the fact that the members of this school were unable to explain the causes of economic events such as the German inflation after World War I was an added reason for him to turn to economic theory. He became, among German economists, the foremost opponent of the Historical School, which he criticised in several publica tions. Through his wrItings and his teaching he contributed his share to the revival of interest in economic theory which was noticeable in the 'twenties. And he was one of the few economists left in Germany who helped to keep this interest alive during the 'thirties and during World War II. During this time he published Kapitaltheoretische Untersuchungen (1936), and the present volume, which immediately gave rise to an extensive discussion in German economic journals.
