Este es el contexto en el que se encuentra la humanidad en 2020. La Covid-19 es un problema de salud pública agravado por la interconexión entre naciones que requiere de planteamientos y soluciones que impliquen a todos los países. Sin un verdadero multilateralismo, no se encontrarán soluciones duraderas a la pandemia. Algo similar ocurre con los siete desafíos actuales identificados por el Secretario General. Aunque éstos tengan impactos locales, es necesaria una visión global para poder afrontarlos. Este dilema del equilibrio entre lo nacional y lo internacional forma parte de un debate más amplio sobre los derechos humanos ante los nuevos desafíos de la globalización; debate al que contribuyen los temas desarrollados en los capítulos de este libro desde una aproximación interdisciplinar. En esta obra se reflexiona sobre una variedad de problemáticas relacionadas con la globalización y su impacto en diversos derechos humanos, como el derecho de autodeterminación de las comunidades indígenas, el derecho a un medio ambiente adecuado, el derecho a la salud o los derechos de las personas migrantes. Los derechos humanos no se reducen al ámbito jurídico, sino que abarcan diferentes materias que exigen un diálogo entre ellas. Los autores de los capítulos de este libro pertenecen a distintas ramas de la academia y aportan interesantes visiones a un debate amplio y en continua evolución sobre los derechos humanos. Son muchas y variadas las maneras en las que se podría haber estructurado y cada una de ellas aportaría una perspectiva nueva. Esperamos que la presente propuesta sea de utilidad e interés para los lectores, encontrando en estos capítulos ideas y debates que ayuden a seguir luchando por la protección y defensa de los derechos humanos.
