Lejos de resolver las tensiones y las voces en disenso percibidas a lo largo de toda la obra de Judith Butler, Pamela Abellón y Magdalena De Santo ponen en práctica la premisa de que es precisamente el disenso, la inestabilidad conceptual y el esfuerzo de las interpretaciones lo que mantiene tanto al movimiento feminista como a sus teorías vivas, pujantes y en continuo estado de resignificación. El primer escrito, Espectros beauvoirianos en la obra de Judith Butler, de Abellón, recorre, a partir de la noción derrideana de “espectro”, los rastros que la filosofía francesa ha dejado en Butler, en especial la obra de los existencialistas. Los estudios teórico-filosóficos sobre Simone de Beauvoir y sobre Judith Butler se han centrado tradicionalmente o bien en la lectura aislada de sus obras, sin considerar las relaciones conceptuales que existen entre ambas, o bien en lecturas que solo evalúan sus relaciones crítico-negativas: es decir, las objeciones que Butler le realizó a Beauvoir. Así, la lectura de la autora, que se centra en sus relaciones crítico-positivas, constituye un aporte novedoso, e interesante para pensar el devenir de la teoría feminista en estas dos autoras. El recorrido que realiza Magdalena De Santo parte de la identificación de la noción butleriana de “performatividad” con la noción de “género” y por supuesto con las nociones de “drag” y “queer”. La autora devela cómo en la teoría butleriana conviven, por lo menos, dos tipos de discursos: por un lado el teatral o dramático propio del art performance y, por otro, el de la performatividad lingüística o de actos de habla en el sentido no-referencial. Muestra así cómo la conceptualización originaria de performance fue paulatinamente trasmutada por Butler hacia una versión más cercana a la performatividad derrideana. Este rastreo permite presentar el género en cada una de las claves discursivas.

This book shows how intersectional feminism is often underperformed and appropriated as a “woke” vocabulary by elite women who are unwilling to do the necessary emotional work around their privilege. As Trans Women, Femmes, Women of Color, Queer Women, Gender Variant, and Gender Non-Conforming scholars emerge, the heteronormative, cisgender, colonial idea of women and the feminine is rapidly under attack.
