'Hitler's Day of German Art 1938 - The Programme of the Procession' provides a unique insight into the very little known celebrations, which took place at each opening of the annual Great German Art Exhibition from 1937 to 1944. This visitor programme booklet provides a comprehensive listing of all parts of the procession including descriptions, images and a map showing the route of the procession. The Day of German Art usually took place in July and celebrations lasted three days, starting on a Friday. The Sunday marked the climax with the official opening of the exhibition in the House of German Art and a large procession entitled '2,000 Years of German Culture' moved through the streets of Munich. The procession illustrated German history, legends and myths and how they were linked to the Third Reich. The reprint of this rare book will be welcomed by scholars of the period as an indispensable primary source offering a valuable perspective on the formation and development of Nazi ideology.

Hitler S Alpine Headquarters written by James Wilson and has been published by Pen and Sword this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-01-13 with History categories.

Hitler's Alpine Headquarters look at the development of the Obersalzberg from a small, long established farming community, into Hitler's country residence and the Nazis' southern headquarters. Introducing new images and additional text, this book is a much expanded sequel to the author's acclaimed Hitler's Alpine Retreat (P & S 2005). This book will appeal to those with a general interest in the Third Reich. It explains how and why Hitler chose this area to build a home and his connection to this region.??New chapters focus on buildings and individuals of Hitler's inner circle not covered in the earlier book. The development of the region is extensively covered by use of contemporary propaganda postcards and accompanying detailed text. Presenting the history of this region and the many associated important historical moments in contemporary postcards allows the reader to view the subject matter as it was presented to the masses at that time. With over 300 images and three maps, and the opportunity to compare a number of 'then and now' images, the story of Hitler's Southern Headquarters is brought to life through this extensive coverage.??Two seasons as an expert tour guide specializing in the history of the region during the Third Reich period allowed the author to carry out his own detailed research. There is an interview with a local man, who, as a small boy was photographed with Hitler, together with comments gathered during a recent meeting with Rochus Misch who served on Hitler's staff.

Historic Avant Garde Work On Paper written by Sascha Bru and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-03-13 with Art categories.

This book examines the many functions of paper in the fine art and aesthetics of the early twentieth-century modernist or historic avant-garde (Expressionism, Cubism, Futurism, Dadaism, Surrealism, Constructivism and many more). With its many collages and photomontages, the historic avant-garde is generally considered to have transformed paper from a mere support into an artistic medium and to have assisted in art on paper gaining a firm autonomy. Bringing together an international team of scholars, this book shows that the story of paper in the avant-garde has thereby hardly been told. The first section looks at a selection of canonized individual avant-gardists’ work on paper to demonstrate that the material and formal analysis of paper in the avant-garde’s artistic production still holds much in store. In the second section, chapters zoom in on forms and formats of collective artistic production that deployed paper to move around reproductions of fine art works, to facilitate the dialogue between avant-gardists, to better promote their work among patrons, and to make their work available to a wider audience. Chapters in the third section lay bare how certain groups within the avant-garde began to massively create monochrome works, because these could be easily reproduced when transferred to, or reproduced as, linocuts. In the last section of the book, chapters explore how the avant-garde’s attentiveness to paper almost always also implied a critique of the ways in which paper, and all that it stood for, was treated and labored in European culture and society more broadly. The book will be of interest to scholars working in art history, modernism, and design.
