Massive school shooting is an increasing problem among our children. Academia has linked media entertainment as one ofthe many factors that can explain children's aggression. The general aggression model explains the influence of media violence in human aggression. The general anti-aggressive model explains how anti-aggressive variables prime anti-aggressive behavior. Based on both models, a preventative program for children to reduce positive attitudes toward the use ofviolent media has been developed. The program suggests a triangulation technique to guarantee effectiveness by involving parents, teachers and leaders from the community. Suggestions to implement the program as a pilot study and as a longitudinal study are mentioned .

Big World Small Screen written by and has been published by U of Nebraska Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992-01-01 with Psychology categories.

Big World, Small Screen assesses the influence of television on the lives of the most vulnerable and powerless in American society: children, ethnic and sexual minorities, and women. Many in these groups are addicted to television, although they are not the principal audiences sought by commercial TV distributors because they are not the most lucrative markets for advertisers. This important book illustrates the power of television in stereotyping the elderly, ethnic groups, gays and lesbians, and the institutionalized and, thus, in contributing to the self-image of many viewers. They go on to consider how television affects social interaction, intellectual functioning, emotional development, and attitudes (toward family life, sexuality, and mental and physical health, for example). They illustrate the medium's potential to teach and inform, to communicate across nations and cultures?and to induce violence, callousness, and amorality. Parents will be especially interested in what they say about television viewing and children. Finally, they offer suggestions for research and public policy with the aim of producing programming that will enrich the lives of citizens all across the spectrum. Nine psychologists, members of the Task Force on Television and Society appointed by the American Psychological Association, have collaborated on Big World, Small Screen.

Open And Distance Non Formal Education In Developing Countries written by Colin Latchem and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-01-29 with Education categories.

This book is the first comprehensive account of developments in open and distance non-formal education in developing countries for over more than 20 years. It includes many instructive and inspiring examples of how international agencies such as UNESCO, FAO, WHO, UNICEF, USAID and the Commonwealth of Learning and national providers are using radio, TV, online and mobile learning, telecentres and other means to achieve the Education for All, Millennium Development and Sustainable Development Goals. It describes the educational needs of the world’s most disadvantaged, vulnerable and least formally educated children, youth and adult populations, including the disabled, refugees and prisoners. It also reports on the successes, outcomes, constraints and shortcomings of using open and distance methods and technology to deliver literacy and numeracy programmes, equivalency, ‘second chance’ or alternative schooling, life skills and rural community development programmes and income generation and vocational training outside the framework of the formal education system. It concludes with suggestions for the extension and improvement of such lifelong learning. Designed to encourage further research and development in these capacity-building practices outside the established formal system, this is a must-read for all policy-makers, managers, educators, students and researchers interested in non-formal education for individuals, families and communities in the developing world.
