Hierfür werden Experteninterviews durchgeführt und qualitativ aufbereitet. In diesem Zusammenhang lautet die forschungsleitende Fragestellung: "Welche Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten bieten sich für gelingende Nachfolgeprozesse von Familienunternehmen, im Hinblick auf emotionale und soziale Aspekte?" Im ersten Kapitel wird zunächst die Situation von Familienunternehmen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland dargestellt. Dazu werden die begrifflichen Grundlagen mittelständische Unter-nehmen und Familienunternehmen differenziert. Im weiteren Verlauf beschäftigt sich das zweite Kapitel mit typischen Nachfolgemodellen in Familienunternehmen, die einander gegenüber-gestellt werden. Das dritte Kapitel skizziert emotional/soziale Herausforderungen im Sinne des Seniors und Juniors. Schließlich werden weitere Herausforderungen anhand von Experteninterviews thematisiert und verglichen. Die Schlussbetrachtung fasst abschließend wesentliche Erkenntnisse dieser Arbeit zusammen.
