Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Theologie - Biblische Theologie, Note: 1,3, University of South Africa, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das Bemühen um eine der Bibel adäquate Hermeneutik, die sowohl um die historische Erhellung der biblischen Botschaft einerseits sowie um ihre relevante Kontextualisierung ins soziokulturelle Umfeld hinein andererseits, befleißigt ist, beschäftigt die (kirchliche) Schriftauslegung nicht erst seit der Aufklärung. Vielmehr berechtigt das Studium der Theologiegeschichte zur Ansicht, dass sich die Kirche der Herausforderung um eine ordnungsgemäße Schriftinterpretation von ihren frühesten Tagen an gestellt hat. Was in jenen ersten Jahrzehnten und Jahrhunderten sorgfältig, aber auch sehr bestimmt konstituiert wurde, blieb bis zum Anbruch der Neuzeit kirchliche Auslegungspraxis. Die Basis hatte Philo von Alexandrien gelegt, für die Weiterentwicklung sorgte die Alexandrinische Schule, namentlich Origenes. Über letzteren ging der Weg dieser Interpretationsweise weiter in den Westen, besonders über die geniale Gestalt Augustins . Bekannt geworden ist diese Art der Schriftinterpretation als eine von einem mehrfachen – je nach Ausprägung: doppelten, dreifachen oder vierfachen – Schriftsinn ausgehende Bibelexegese, die durch das ganze Mittelalter hindurch unangefochtene Geltung hatte. Dieser mittelalterlichen, längst nicht mehr als ‚barbarisch’ verschrienen – wie neuere Untersuchungen eindeutig aufzeigen –, sondern wenn auch in festen Bahnen verlaufenden, deshalb aber nicht undifferenziert ausgestalteten Schriftinterpretation, sondern geistreichen Form der Exegese gilt die Aufmerksamkeit der vorliegenden Arbeit.

This book demonstrates a number of approaches made by biblical scholars to find a theology of the Christian Scripture. It then considers attempts to bridge the gap between exegesis and dogmatics by appeal to the discipline of 'fundamental theology' and the doctrine of Revelation. It finds that, for all the interesting questions raised, one is forced back to the Bible from where one must form the themes and concepts which have been developed by theologians through the ages, and which with help from biblical historical critics can be made to refresh theology and serve the Church. This is done by examining the role of 'faith' in the two testaments and by considering how the Bible's understanding of that which receives revelation is itself useful for the total enterprise of theology.
