Welche technischen Mittel nutzen die Filmemacher, um die sexualisierte Gewalt gegen Frauen in Filmen zu inszenieren? Dieser Frage soll in der vorliegenden Arbeit nachgegangen werden. Die zentrale Fragestellung lautete daher: Wie wird die sexuelle Gewalt gegen Frauen, speziell in Hollywoodspielfilmen, im Zeitraum von 1970-2011 dargestellt? Konkret soll im ersten Teil der Arbeit der Terminus der sexuellen und sexualisierten Gewalt zunächst definiert und der Unterschied erarbeitet werden. In einem zweiten Schritt werden exemplarische Filmbeispiele mit sexueller Gewalt, im Zeitraum von 1970-2010, vorgestellt. Dafür wird pro Jahrzehnt ein Hollywoodspielfilm aus dem Genre der Dramen und Thriller, bezüglich verschiedener Schwerpunkte, analysiert. Diese Aspekte sind die Darstellung der Opfer- und Täterrolle, des sexuellen Akts, sowie der Kameraführung, um anschließend Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede festzustellen. Des Weiteren folgt die Untersuchung von "Verblendung" als einen aktuellen Vertreter dieser Thematik. In diesem Teil der Arbeit steht zunächst die inhaltliche Analyse des Thrillers, die auf der Grundlage des gleichnamigen Buches von Stieg Larsson basiert, im Fokus. Daher werden zuerst relevante Lebensdaten des Autors aufgeführt. Ferner wird ein Interview des Regisseurs David Fincher bezüglich sexueller Gewalt gegen weibliche Personen herangezogen. Dadurch gelingt es, vorherrschende Einstellungen und Meinungen Finchers zu untersuchen, die einen möglichen Einfluss auf die Kameraführung haben könnten. Als letzter Punkt folgt anschließend die technische Analyse der Filmsequenz, in der der Protagonistin sexualisierte Gewalt widerfährt. Dabei stehen technische Aspekte, wie die eingesetzten Kameraeinstellungen, Dialoge sowie die Musik im Mittelpunkt.
