Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Der Himmel mit seinen Luftstraßen erscheint uns ohne Grenzen oder Hindernisse. Und doch war der Luftraum innerhalb Deutschlands nahezu ein halbes Jahrhundert getrennt. [ ] Zwischen 1945 und 1990 gab es daher so gut wie keine Verbindung zwischen den auf dem Gebiet der zivilen Luftfahrt tätigen Menschen Deutschlands. Dieses Zitat gibt gut die Situation wieder, in der sich der zivile Luftverkehr im geteilten Deutschland zwischen 1945 und 1990 befand. Mit dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges 1945 und der Gründung beider deutscher Staaten 1949 begann auch eine Zeit der getrennten und gegeneinander ausgerichteten Außenpolitiken. Die Bundesrepublik Deutschland (BRD) versuchte im Bereich der innerdeutschen Beziehungen in den Anfangsjahren so schnell wie möglich die Wiedervereinigung anzustreben. Als dieser Plan Mitte der 1950er Jahre aber aufgegeben werden musste, da die Erfolgsaussichten zu gering waren, ging man dazu über, sich als alleinigen rechtmäßigen deutschen Staat auf internationaler Bühne zu präsentieren. Dieser Alleinvertretungsanspruch prägte über fast 15 Jahre die Außenpolitik der BRD. Mit der Hallstein-Doktrin (benannt nach dem damaligen Staatssekretär im Auswärtigen Amt Walter Hallstein) von 1955 ging man noch einen Schritt weiter: es wurde allen Staaten mit den Abbruch der diplomatischen Beziehungen gedroht, wenn diese eben solche mit der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik (DDR) aufnehmen sollten und den Staat damit faktisch anerkennen würden. Damit verhinderte die Bundesrepublik bis 1972 die Aufnahme normaler diplomatischer Beziehungen der DDR zu den Ländern der westlichen Welt und zur Mehrzahl der Entwicklungsländer, Doch welche Reaktion zeigte darauf eigentlich die DDR selbst? Deren Außenpolitik beruhte nach Ansicht einiger Wissenschaftler bis etwa 1970 auf zwei Zielen: Einerseits wollte man eine Internationalisierung des sozialistischen Systems erreichen; Andererseits wurde auf eine Kooperation mit dem kapitalistischen Ausland abgezielt, die dem eigenen Staat den größtmöglichen Nutzen bringen sollte. Die außenpolitische Führung des ostdeutschen Staates ging dabei sehr konsequent vor. Alle Bereiche, sei es Politik, Wirtschaft, Kultur, Sport, Verkehr, etc., wurden den beiden großen Hauptzielen untergeordnet. Letztendlich ging man immer davon aus, dass die Zusammenarbeit in einem bestimmten Feld später auch andere Politikbereiche beträfe und damit auch dort eine bessere zwischenstaatliche Kooperation von Nöten [...]

The first American armoured cars began to emerge around the turn of the century, seeing their first military use in 1916 during the Punitive Expedition against Pancho Villa.
