Desweiteren wird festgestellt, welche weiteren Auswirkungen die digitale Revolution auf die Branche hatte. Zunächst wird die Marktsituation im Jahr 1999 betrachtet. In diesem Jahr verzeichnete der weltweite Umsatz in der Musikindustrie sein Maximum. In der Folge wird beschrieben, wie sich Digitalisierung, Datenkomprimierung und die Entwicklung des Internet auf die Konsumgewohnheiten der Abnehmer und Abnehmerinnen und damit auf die Umsatzstruktur ausgewirkt haben. Anschließend wird die Situation der Musikindustrie im Jahr 2017 betrachtet, und die grundlegenden Veränderungen werden aufgezeigt. Anhand einer Branchenstrukturanalyse nach Porter wird verglichen, wie sich die einzelnen Kräfte der Branche durch die Digitalisierung verändert haben. Ausserdem haben sich auch die rechtlichen, politischen und technologischen Gegebenheiten im Umfeld der Musikindustrie in den letzten 10 Jahren stark verandert. Im Zuge der Digitalisierung spielen auch die Social Media eine grosse Rolle. Nach Hettler lost Social Media die geographischen Mauern zwischen Menschen auf. Interessante Songs oder Videos auf YouTube verteilen sich wie ein Lauffeuer durch soziale Netzwerke wie Facebook, Twitter und Co. und machen tags zuvor noch unbekannte Kunstler uber Nacht zu Stars. Die Digitalisierung und damit einhergehend Social Media, fuhren zu einer Veranderung der Rahmenbedingungen der Musikindustrie. Es entstehen neue Geschaftsmodelle und die alten, jahrelang erfolgreich funktionierenden Geschaftsmodelle werden durch die neuen substituiert. Im Rahmen dieser Bacheor Thesis werden alte und neue Geschaftsmodelle vorgestellt und analysiert. Ausserdem wird die Forschungsfrage, inwieweit die neue Kommunikation durch Social Media die Geschaftsmodelle der Musikindustrie verandert, beantwortet. This volume responds to this absence with a collection of 15 essays by scholars from a variety of music- and sound-related fields, including an Afterword by Ranciere on the role of music in his thought and writing. The essays engage closely with Ranciere's existing commentary on music and its relationship to other arts in the aesthetic regime, revealed through detailed case studies around music, sound and listening.
