Das komplexe Projekt »Académie Worosis Kiga« des Pariser Künstlers Gérard Gasiorowski macht, wie auch bekannte Werke Marcel Broodthaers', Claes Oldenburgs und Jörg Immendorffs, eine bisher vernachlässigte Strategie künstlerischer Schöpfung um 1968 sichtbar. Unter der Bezeichnung »fiktive Institution« lenkt Theresa Nisters die Aufmerksamkeit auf jene Form künstlerischer Kritik, die sich - zeitgleich zu Strömungen wie »Land Art« oder »Arte Povera« - nicht ostentativ vom Kunstmarkt abwendete. Stattdessen wurden sich vorhandene Organisationsformen und Ordnungssysteme offizieller Institutionen zu eigen gemacht, um herkömmliche Beurteilungs- und Wertmaßstäbe zu unterlaufen.

Was ist immersives Theater? Was bedeutet es, im Kontext der Theaterrezeption davon zu sprechen, dass Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer "komplett eintauchen"? Die vorliegende Studie entwickelt anhand eines breiten Korpus von Aufführungen des partizipativen Gegenwartstheaters ein Verständnis von immersivem Theater im engen Sinn und trägt damit zur begrifflichen Unterscheidung von Partizipation und Immersion bei. Untersucht werden formale Gemeinsamkeiten der Publikumsinvolvierung in Arbeiten des Kollektivs SIGNA, von Paulus Manker, Punchdrunk und Scruggs/Woodard. Die Autorin zeigt, dass immersives Theater mit seinen multisensorischen und interaktiven Erfahrungsräumen wirkungsästhetisch auf komplexe Prozesse der Vereinnahmung zielt. Diese können sowohl in produktive Selbstreflexion umschlagen als auch unbemerkt bleiben, worin sich die gesellschaftspolitische Relevanz dieses "übergriffigen" Theaters widerspiegelt.

Der Begriff ‚Dokufiktion‘ wird seit geraumer Zeit zur Kategorisierung medialer Produkte herangezogen und ist in verschiedenen Dispositiven wie dem Film, dem Fernsehen, dem Theater, der Literatur oder auch dem Gaming-Bereich weit verbreitet. Trotz seiner Resonanzstärke im medien- und literaturwissenschaftlichen Diskurs ist der Begriff an sich darüber hinaus bislang unscharf geblieben. In der Forschung besteht noch kein Konsens über seine Verwendungsweise, lediglich Einigkeit darüber, dass mit ‚Dokufiktion‘ Erzählungen zwischen ‚Fakt‘ und ‚Fiktion‘ bezeichnet werden. Der analytische Mehrwert des Begriffs wird deshalb immer wieder in Frage gestellt und sein Gebrauch ist im wissenschaftlichen Diskurs umstritten. An diesem Punkt setzt der Band an: Er will mithilfe seines interdisziplinären Zugangs zu einer Konturierung und Schärfung des Konzepts beitragen. Hierfür spüren die literatur-, kommunikations- und medienwissenschaftlichen Beiträge den vielfältigen Formen und Funktionen dokufiktionalen Erzählens in Literatur und Medien nach und entwickeln so ein begriffliches Instrumentarium, um das Phänomen der Dokufiktionalität medienübergreifend beschreibbar zu machen.
